Ok so i take my baby up the road today about 20 miles stop in to see a client for 5 minutes, i come outside try to start car nothing:thud: . Now i turn key the gauges, lights fire up, fuel pump i can hear, but wont start:huh: i try 4-5 times nothing, so i pop the hood check battery 14 volts (red top optimo). Wiggle battery for what i dont know. Get back inside starts right up. Went about my day multiple stops cranks every time. Any idea what kind of problem i might have so i can fix before i really get stuck. Thanks for help guys.
Did the security light go out? If not the VATS is active and turns off the fuel until it gets a signal from the pellet. If the ignition barrel is worn, heavy stuff on the key can cause a bad connection. A dirty VATS pellet will also cause it.
Yup, I'd also check the other ends of the battery cables.
I had a problem once where the connections at the battery were torqued properly, everything looked ok, but the problem was in the crimp at the end of the cable to the lug at the far end. It looked fine, bolt tight but the cable wiggled in the crimp.
"It wont start". Well when i get in yes clutch is depressed had it for 3 years you have to do that, battery is only 8 months old no corrosion. When i turned the key the gauges spin over like usual, i can hear the fuel pump kick in, but when you turn it the rest of way to start the starter you know that last 1/4 turn it just didnt do anything. So i get out and check things under hood no corrosion at all on battery its tight 12 lbs torqued. I think it could be the key its the original key i do have 4 others i had made from my locksmith buddy for $10 each. So im thinking it could be the pellet deal.
I own a cctv surveillance company we install security cameras.
Deegee you said security lights sorry to ask but what is that?
P.S. I just thought about it i did have the ignition switch cleaned about a year ago they took it out and cleaned it or something like that. I think im going to keep a spare key on my key chain just in case its the Vats pellet then ill know if it does it again. I drove it all day all over the place without issue.

Interesting. Mine does the same thing occasionally. I open the door and it starts. As someone said, I believe it is security issue of sorts. My battery actually shows about 11.4 volts after it sits but it still starts.
Mine had the same symptoms. I determined it was the theft deterrent relay. I could drive it one day and it would start every time. Then
the next morning it wouldn't start. Replaced the relay and it starts now.
