this is a question for anyone who has had warranty work done on their car...
ok so heres the quick story, i have an 03 z06 the rear end was making a howling noise... the drivers side mirror wont hold a memory setting (stealership says they cant reproduce the problem) and window regulator has failed.....
i got the warranty company to repair the rear and and the window regulator and i went up to the stealership today to get a rental car and walk him through exactly what was going on with my mirror..
after talking to the service writer i notice something odd.. now all of a sudden when the key is removed from the ignition the radio no longer turns off.. and the steering wheel no longer locks... i brought it up to him and he says they hadnt done any work on the car but they would look into it...
my fear is something is wrong (not sure what) and my warranty company wont cover it.. is there anything i can do? ive had the car for about 4 months now and put about 3k miles on it and NEVER had this problem before until its been with the stealer for 3 days....
sorry for the long story , any and all help would be greatly appreciated

This is the way it is supposed to be. Every vette I have had and seen, if the doors are shut, and your radio is on and you turn of the ignition and pull the key, the radio will stay on and memory seat will reset. Radio will shut off when opening the door. As for the sterring wheel, turn it a few times and it will probably lock.
i know how vehicles work,, the radio stays on no matter what.. key out door open doesnt matter it never shuts off... as for the steering wheel, the car is up on a lift and i turned it full lock to lock 5 times.... it never locked
the problem is tho.. i never once had a problem in 5 months and previous owner never had a problem in 3 yrs and now all of a sudden being at a dealership all these problems arise at once?

Read your OWNER's manual!!! Retained Power Accessories means that when you turn your key (engine) off, the radio and ability to control your mirrors continues for a defined amount of time.......UNLESS the door is opened!

I don't think you have an attitude - some guys try too hard and just appear to think you're stupid; I don't think you're stupid. Let that issue go, and go find that Bill guy. He is really sharp, and if it has happened before he knows how to fix it. My guess is a glitch in the electrical system that controls your memory settings. Here's a good start:

Do you know if the previous owner had a window valet added? If it's there it would be plugged into your OBDII port under the steering wheel. It's just a small plastic covered box not much bigger than the OBDII port itself. Window valet allows retained accessory power (RAP) for longer periods of time, 15 or 30 minutes, and it doesn't shut off even if you open the door. Using the fob lock button will turn off the power before the preset time. Maybe you just got the window valet as a bonus with the car.
As far as the steering is concerned, the column lock bypass, or lock removal may have been done on the car. The dealer can check through gm service records for recall and service bulletin work done.
