Definitely the Z06 is the quicker/faster car. My understanding is that just a few thousand dollars can make a Terminator into a wickedly fast car, but it will never handle like a Z06.
I owned a 03 Cobra and it is no where close to my Z. Now I did think the Cobra handled well with its independent suspension, but it still can not compare to the Zs handling braking and power. I liked the Cobra so I am not a Cobra hater. That being said, I would never choose the Cobra over the Z. The only edge the Cobra has, IMO, over the Z is that it has back seats if you need them.
The older I get the more I realize I only need one seat, the drivers seat!!! (and a race track of course)
I own a turbo mod motor car. The thing about cobras (mod motors) and boost is that they respond very well to exhaust, tune, intake and would walk a C5Z with those simple mods. You'd need heads/cam to keep up with a cobra with those 3 mods.

Um, not really.
Cam-only C5Zs are capable of 450rwhp...more than enough to get the job done.
Bolt-on C5Zs can get close to 400rwhp...good race with a bolt-on 2003-04 Cobra.
The 2003-04 Cobra is probably the only Mustang I would own (I've owned two Fox GTs), so don't think I am a hater. Turbo/Kenne Bell Terminators are just plain sick...
I have owned both, and I still miss my old 04 Cobra to this day... but I will never sell my Z06 for a Cobra, only as an addition.
I bought my Cobra already with an upper pulley, tune and exhaust and that alone made 466rwhp on the dyno. It felt like the car pulled like a freight train when I eventually got the rear tires to quit spinning I drag raced the car with those mods and with M/T drag radials to a 7.59 on an 1/8 mile track. Nothing great, but it felt right at home there. On street tires, I never could hook up and only ran a best of 8.11.
Then I sold it for a C5Z and was able to run a 7.98 (1/8 mile again) on street tires. The car didn't "feel" as fast as the cobra, but being so much lighter and the powerband is different... but it was certainly faster than the cobra. My Z06 had an intake, tune and exhaust and that was it.
As far as cornering... doesn't even compare. The Z06 will kill it, every single time. The cobra is a nice car overall though.

450rwhp from a cam only? I've seen heads, cam, exhaust put down 450, not a 100rwhp just from a cam. In any case, I'm sure that particular cam would not be street friendly and wouldn't even be on most peoples choices for cam selection.

Yep...450rwhp cam-only plenty of times. The factory LS6 heads aren't all that terrible... You are correct in that it would be an aggressive cam, but well within reason. Heads/cam C5Zs can hit 470rwhp and beyond...
I have a mild little 228 cam, headers WITH cats, UD pulley, CAI and tune and get 421/400 with tons of area under the curve. I highly doubt that I would lose to a intake/exhaust/tune Termi unless Bob Cosby was driving it...
