I just bought 2 295-35-18 Nokian tires for my new to me Z06 wheels. $140.00 each plus shipping. I was not familiar with the brand so I googled them. They are manufactured in Finland and the company is best known for their all weather tires. The just set the new world speed record for an automobile running on an ice surface with an Audi equipped with their tires. They went 206 mph with a 255-35-20 tire. So I'm guessing they make a pretty good tire.
You will have to keep us posted on the performance of these tires at say 1000 miles or so and wet/dry handling characteristics. A new product tester is always needed so thanks for testing them. I personally am very interested. This is good info....
Where did you buy them from? I need a set here shortly.
This was a Craigslist find. Guy started with 15 sets earlier in the summer but at that time I had not bought the Z06 wheels I have now so I just passed over it. When I called Monday he only had 2 sets left and he was keeping one set for himself. I'll ask it if thinks he will be getting any more but something tells me they won't be at this price. The Nokian tires in this size I found on internet sites were $300.00+ each. He said he sold most of them to Mustang guys.
I thought by the "cheapskate" title you were calling me out!
Knowing what mods you have done to your ride, I don't think that label would apply. However,if it's true, you just outed yourself. Something tells me there may be more of us out there!
Man, I've got to learn how the multi-quote function works!

It will be interesting to see how they behave on the Vette.
Well, if you plan on high speed driving on ice it looks like you've made a great choice.
Not saying these are a bad choice, I don't know the tire at all but I did hear an interesting statement during the Baltimore ALMS this weekend. They were talking about Falken tires and how, IF IT WERE WET, they couldn't be beat, but in dry racing it was their FIRST win over Michelin.
I'm not promoting any tire (I have Hankooks) but just saying that being #1 in one area does not mean they are any good at all in another. You need to check the reviews out really well.

Good Luck and Safe Driving
The particular tires I bought are not the same style of tire as the ones used in the record run. My thought was a company capable of making a tire that could run those speeds, on ice no less, should be able to manufacture a good all season tire that will hold together for my driving needs. If I had decided to buy a set of polished thin spokes instead of Z06 wheels I'd be rolling on Hankooks as well. My car will probably never see any track duty so maxium grip on dry pavement is not something I'd be bumping into unless it were an emergency situation.
Well the tires came in Friday evening. Still don't have any new fronts on the way so I will hold up on mounting these just yet.
I didn't even ask for the specs before I bought these but it appears all is good. 400 treadwear rating, traction A temperature A. Now if they are smoother (non runflat) and more quiet than the stock GY runflats I'll be a happy camper.
Have had experience with their cold weather tires up in the frozen north - I think they make the best cold weather tires out there. These were fitted to my SUV. Can only imagine their summer tires will be great performers, please let us all know how they work for you.

So when are you going to let us know exactly which Nokian tires you purchased?
I don't even see a tire with that tread design on their website and your photos don't show which one it is. I'd be a bit concerned about performance myself. That compound is harder than even the stock runflats. The A-ratings are ratings given for their particular category. It looks like an all-weather tire.
Tire sticker and tire reads Nokian WR. About all the info I have as this was a Craigslist purchase. I had to go to the Nokian website myself to make a buying decision as I had never heard of Nokian tires in any model. Could be this model has been superceeded by a newer version.
