Default Hooked On Driving

My take on the Hooked On Driving event, was that it was great. The track coaches were helpful and friendly. We met many very nice guys and gals. I think there were 50 plus Corvettes, of every year and type at the event. If you decide to attend one of these events, I think you will have a great time.
Now on a personal note,,, I sucked. On a scale of one to ten, in the corners I was about a two. I think all day, I might have passed two cars that I gained on in the corners. They must have really been bad. On the straight, our car did great, but that was a minor part of the track. I think I will stick to drag racing, "straight line".
Anyway, if you get a chance to attend one of these events, I think you will have a blast.
BTW,,, One of the track coaches drove our car, and "wow" the car did great. It went from one of the worst to one of the best,, so it was the drivers fault "me" not the car. The Z51 suspension was awesome.

I know what ya mean...

Was this your 1st event?
What track?

I did my 1st one earlier this year at VIR with a group called 10/10ths..another great group of folks/instructors....and plenty of track time...

Although there were some slower than me....my son even got a video of me passing a mustang (edited out the "point by")

More to it than meets the eye thats for sure....

Can't wait to do another.....

This was the first time for me with the Corvette, but back in 1993 I ran the track with another car. Thunderhill raceway out of Willows California.
The goal of the event was to teach us the proper lines going in and out of corners, learn about our cars, be smooth, etc. "not to race". But one of the indicators that you were doing something right, is when you began to close in on the car ahead of you. I thought I was doing great until I looked in the mirror and saw a snail signaling me to move over..
The only closing and passing, I did was in the straight. The s/c did well.

Thanks for posting your comments on HOD. I was just looking at their web site yesterday. Could you comment on how much track time & how many laps you got with and without a coach. How many laps. How many other drivers? Thanks. Hope I can go some day soon.

Lots of track time. Three twenty minute runs before lunch, about four to five laps. Three twenty-five minute runs after lunch. You go solo when your coach feels you are safe with the car you are driving. I got tired and did not run the last session. Since our car has over 600 hp, and the driver is the problem, I probably would go solo some time around 2020. Most of the guys and ladies could go solo in the afternoon. There were about fifty cars in three different classes.

First I've heard of the Hooked on Driving events. Any link to them? Sounds like a very fun way to get to know your car better.

Thanks for the link - too bad there is nothing really close by this area. Looks like the closest one is in the Chicago - about 7 hours away.

I won a Hooked on Driving gift certificate from a recent Race Ramps promotion. I'll be going to Thunderhill in the very near future and really looking forward to it.

You will have a great time. Everyone should do it once. Some get "hooked" and can't stay away. Also a fun event is the Mojave Mile, similar to the Texas mile.
