Realistically what are the gains
Real world expected gains from doing long tube headers with the high flow cats but keeping the stock catback?
I would do a Varam and tune at the same time but have to wait for any other intake mods. I have looked online for sound clips of something like this but it is hard to tell, how much louder and how much drone is there when doing this?

C5Z exhausts are done primarily for the sound and not any HP gains because the ti's flow pretty well. Keep in mind that you'll gain weight with most aftermarket stainless systems.
I think you can pick up an honest 15-20 with the longtubes and an intake, most likely more if you have a tune done.

I picked up 31whp with a cai, longtube headers, hi-flo cats and
a tune. Went from 349 to 380whp. I think those numbers are
fairly typical. No drone at all unless you change the cat-back.

2001 Z06 went from baseline of 331 rwhp to 380 with LG LTs, hi-flo cats, Blackwing w/CF bridge and tune. Sound is awesome. Still quiet at cruise but gets nasty at WOT. No drone/resonance. Still my favorite mod for the $.

The headers with cats and TI exhaust will not have any drone as I ran that set-up on my FRC for many years. If you want more sound, you can go catless and the TI exhaust still will not drone and has an exotic sound imho, of course catless means you will smell the exhaust more though. You should gain ~35rwhp depending on what size exhaust you go with and who does the tuning, I also would recommend getting your throttle body ported. We are a dealer for American Racing Headers, so feel free to contact me for an amazing price

Sounds like this is something I will do then. Pick up a few more horses and keep the drone out. Been there and not my style anymore.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have a 2003 Z06 with the following mods: Texas speed long tubes, vararam, and BFG drag radials. I can provide you with the #'s it ran at the track before the headers.
Stock with vararam and drag radials - 12.3/.4 - 113-114 MPH
Long tube headers (no cats) and a tune - 11.7x @ 120 MPH
I added 3" magnaflow cats because I didn't like the drone
Long tubes with cats - 11.82 @ 118 MPH
Dyno with cats 375RWHP and 375 RWTQ.
