Default Side Mirror Vandalized

I got off work early this morning and came out to my passenger side mirror hanging off. I work at a bar so I'm assuming it was a belligerent individual, who decided to give my side mirror a left hook. I can see the three knuckle skid marks across the shattered mirror.

Is this something I can fix myself?

Here is the Picture:

I could order the new mirror from gene cully but what about installing it? Simple or no?

Thanks,

Dan

I can't tell ya about a vette's mirror but i can tell you that I had the mirror busted on my Silverado which I was able to replace easily.
After attaching the plugs for the heat / directional signal the new mirror just snapped into the carrier. I'm almost positive the Vette's mirror mounting is the same.

Default Look closely

I had hit my mirror on another vehicle, knocking the internal parts out of the shell. When I looked closely, I saw that I was able to just push the parts (snap) back. mirror was power, but no heat. all the wires and cable were intact.

Hope that you can do the same.

Never had to fix a mirror on one of these cars, but hope it is not too involved. Too bad that someone had to take out their stupidity on your car.

Mirror Glass Replacement
Removal Procedure

Caution
When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

Push in on one edge of the mirror glass tilting the mirror case to allow finger access.
Grasp the glass case firmly and pull the case from the mirror body.
Disconnect the wire connectors from the case (heated mirror).
Remove the jackscrews from the mirror case.
Bend the jackscrew over.
Press down on the side of the jackscrew popping the screw from the mirror case.
Save the jackscrews for reinstallation to the mirror motor.
Installation Procedure

Caution
When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

IMPORTANT
The glass case is not the same for the right and left mirror. For ease of assembly of the glass case place a little white lithium grease on the motor pivot and on the tip of the installed jackscrews.

Install the jackscrews to the mirror motor.
Push the jackscrews into the mirror motor.
Turn the upper jackscrew aligning the flanges on the tip of the jackscrew up and down to match the slots in the mirror case.
Turn the side jackscrew aligning the flanges on the tip of the jackscrew horizontal, so they match the slots in the mirror case.

Connect the electrical connectors to the mirror case (heated mirror).
Align the case to the mirror motor.
With the palm of your gloved hand press firmly on the center of the glass until the case snaps onto the motor.
Snap the mirror case to the jackscrews.
Right mirror. Rotate the glass case down and press firmly on the lower side snapping the case to the lower jackscrew.
Left mirror. Rotate the glass case up and press firmly on the upper side snapping the case to the upper jackscrew.
Rotate the glass case and press firmly on the outer side snapping the case to the outer jackscrew.

Rearview Mirror Replacement
Removal Procedure

Caution
Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

Lower the door window.
Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

Remove the door speaker assembly.

Disconnect the electrical connector(s).
Disconnect the mirror harness from the retainers
Remove the nuts from the mirror studs.
Remove the mirror with the harness and gasket.
Installation Procedure

Caution
Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

Position the mirror with the gasket and harness to the door.
Install the nuts to the mirror. Tighten
The mirror nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Route the harness and secure the harness with the harness retainers.
Connect the electrical connector(s)

Install the door speaker assembly. Tighten
Tighten the door speaker assembly screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

Connect the speaker connectors.

Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

Well, I attempted to fix the mirror myself. I ordered the replacement mirror from gene culley, and was actually making good progress until i snapped one of the jackscrews (black cylinder piece that is spun by the motor making the mirror tilt left/right, up/down). Now, I dont know where to go to buy this part(s). Would anyone know where to go to purchase this?
