Am I the only who actually notices a big difference between using the two? Tour mode gives me an extremely smooth and comfortable ride but i've found out I need to switch to sport mode when I come upon hills/speed bumps/entrances because in tour mode the shocks will rock up and down and the front will scrape the road. I dunno if I have a shocks problem because in sport mode they are strong.
Anyway, just wondering because to me atleast these two modes offer a very different experience.
I am running the older F45 suspension in my '02 which uses solenoids as valves to control the oil in the shocks, and the 3 modes are subtle at best. Perhaps that is what you're reading about? The '04 uses the much-improved F55 which uses magnetic particles within the oil to change the oil's viscosity much quicker than solenoids can.
The downside is it's a good workout for the pocketbook when its time to refresh them (as are my F45 shocks).
I notice a difference in mine as well. When on bumpy roads, if in tour mode, it feels like it is bottoming out. In sport mode it seems to handle the bumps better. On smooth roads, in tour mode, it is like riding on glass.
For what it is worth, I didn't notice a difference when the stuffers were still in place on the rears.
2004, F55. I definitely notice a difference, and will use tour on bumpy roads. Although, I feel there is more wheel hop in the tour mode. 90% of the time it is in sport mode.

When I was looking to purchase last year, came across a gorgeous low mileage '00 NB vert with the F45 suspension. Damn, I loved the color of that car. But after a lot of research on that dial-a-ride, I just had to pass on it for that very reason.
