In before (b4) the lock. When someone posts something not applicable to C5(on this section) or something stupid and outside the scope of the forum rules,,the moderators will catch it and "lock" the thread. Many will jump in and post an IB4TL for a quick hit for their post count. It's also kind of used as an editorial comment for a dumb or out of bounds thread once they have wasted their time to opened and read it!!
Me too!! Just to make sure it's clear,,and you probably have noticed by now, that anytime some one adds a post to a thread it "bumps" that thread back to the top of the list,,thus the TTT and Bump. Some threads slow down or get slow responses,,and during active times can slip down the list pretty fast so the O.P. (original Poster) or some one will bump it back up so it's more likely to get a response.
Simply by you posting in it. Hence, someone just posting "bump" or "ttt" and not even adding any relevant content. The threads are sorted by the most recent reply, thus, your "bump" would bring the thread "to the top" of the queue.

OK, just so I get this right, the forum program itself, once it sees either of those 2 terms, automatically sends the original post to the top?
I just reread itzza's post. It goes to the top of the forum list...

Reason: I'm thickheaded?
What can be very apparent to some can be equally inobvious to others, and frankly that TTT was on my list of "Wannaknows", and now thanks to chasboy, my ship finally came in this evening and once again I feel all comfy in being informed. I already had Bump fingered out, but in general such points of information are not high up on my learning list.
I generally prefer to use the kings english and actually spell out what I mean so there can be no misunderstanding my intent. Using a keyboard makes it so easy to do in my humble opinion...
My main peeve on these forums isn't the crazy abbreviations, it's the careless spelling habits that go uncorrected and can alter the meaning of an technical explaination at the most inopportune time.
A past professor once instructed me to make sure I checked spelling on important communications since it was a sign of respect for the recipient. Of course these forums, by their very nature, do not require a ridgid adherence to english as taught...so swywawwfowthym....

When Threads (Topics) are posted after the original one, it moves down the list (Page). When someone post (replies) something in a thread (Topic), it moves up the list (Page) because it is the most active. So if you type in "bump" or "ttt", it will force the thread and post to move to the top of the page. Hope this clears it up for you
