I disconnected my battery this weekend, after reinstalling it the key fob took about 5 presses on the lock button and then it started working.

My mechanic programmed out the CAGS. No more first to fourth forced shift and the message no longer lights up on the dash. He asked if I wanted him to change the dash light feature to a shift light coming on at a certain RPM, but I said no.

When I installed the CAGS eliminator on my '00, I did not disconnect the negative cable on the battery. Just unplugged the connector at the tranny and plugged in the CAGS eliminator unit and sealing cap.

As for disconnecting the battery, I would only be concerned if you have the theft lok for the radio activated and don't remember your password.... Otherwise you should have nothing to worry about.
Now I'm concerned.

I just bought my 2002 C5 last Saturday, and so far I have found out that I did not get the key to the wheels. Now I read that there is a theft lok for the radio and it requires a password. What happens if the battery is disconnected and I do not have a password? Am I SOL?

3 things here......

1 you are in the right place, i have gotten more info......valuable info from here than at either of my local gm dealers

2 use the search and see if there are similar posts....yes it can be time consuming and frustrating but give it a good go before you ask and get the bombardment of "USE SEARCH"....trust me i spent hours using search and could not get what i was looking for and still got a little "USE SEARCH" hazing.....after that in the thread acknowledge you have used the search...hazing will be somewhat less

3 start your own thread......only because the title of this one is about skip shift.....people are not going to find your question about radio and wheel locks buried in a skip shift thread......

that being said welcome to the forum
