So my passenger side exhaust bracket broke. Little did I know the amount of work involved just to swap it out for a new one. The hanger/isolater itself was no big deal to remove. It was the actual bracket that holds the hanger in place that was a pain in the *** to get to. It was bent up and out of the mounting hole which caused one of the two studs to be inaccessible. I ended up having to remove the whole rear facia to get to it.
The car is pretty much put away for the year anyway. I still have to do the Antivenom mod and install the HID conversion I ordered from JW Motoring. So... I have all winter to get it back together. No rush! Good times!
I'm always careful when working on the exhaust system not to push one of those studs up through the cross member and now I have a greater appreciation for my caution!!

Yep...I agree. Unfortunately my bracket was bent up into the crossmember . I intially thought it was broken also. I ordered a new one (which GM doesn't make anymore). There were only 4 dealerships in the country that had one left. I found mine in AZ and had it shipped. This bracket would not be hard at all to make though.
I think I probably got a defective (weak) hanger that vibration took its toll on. My car only has 29k miles so It's not like it was worn out or anything.
Glad you got it fixed, but it's crazy that you had to disassemble the back of the car to do so.
Yeah it's time consuming but really not all that difficult. I'm making some adjustments to the exhaust to prevent this from happening again.
And to be honest...it gives me a chance to really clean things up back there. I have already re-polished my GHL exhaust system and cleaned out all the crap that gets caught up inside the rear facia. You would be amazed on how much road debris gets back there.
I also removed the exhaust plate for refinishing and I'm going to repaint the ZO6 logo.
This has actually turned into a fun little project especially since I won't be driving the car again until next spring.
