Recently my 2001 6 spd displays the "Service Active handling" light after I drive for about 20 miles. I have cleared the codes but it will return again after a short period of time. The car runs and handles perfectly. As a novice, I would appreciate any suggestions from other members that have encountered the same. Many thanks!.....JWR11
If your EBCM has failed and you don't want to dig out the failed component(s), you can still remove it and send it out to be repaired for no more than $150. Here's my procedure for doing this:

This happens to my 01 alot as well. I'd like to get it fixed, but I'm not too worried about it. It has been throwing BS codes since I bought it 5 years ago.

This happens not often to my car as well. I just turn the car off and back on and the message goes away.
During the time period when my "service active handling, ABS, and traction control" warnings were being displayed, I almost demolished my car. I stepped on the gas pedal when the ground was a bit wet, the car spun around and almost headed down a steep hill and into oncoming highway traffic. With all the "nannies" working, that would've never happened.
I mention this because we tend to get used to our nanny helping us out at times, often without our knowing we've been "corrected".
For $150 or less, your C5 can be much safer. Don't wait too long!
Do simple things first. If your steering wheel is not straight then the steering wheel sensor will not make contact and cause the code to come up. This happens sometimes after a wheel alignment.
Sometimes when the battery starts to get weak then the code is thrown.
If neither of those two, then into the dealer you go.
Dear friends - Many thanks for your replies and the website that you kindly directed me to.
I finally had some time this morning and pulled the codes. They are as follows ;
28TCS - C1287H & C1288H
BO-RFA - U1000H & U1064H.
Your generous time is greatly appreciated!!
PS - I have been trying to post a picture of my Corvettes next to my threads as you all
have done, but no luck. My computer inexperience is really showing through. Sorry.
Thank you 8Vet7....the steering wheel is perfectly centered and the front alignment seems to be correct. The Vette has 47,000 miles on it and I am only on the second set of tires (all4). They have abundant tread left and will remain in service for quite some time. It also tracks straight going down the road. Appears as if I should investigate your tip on the steering wheel sensor?.......Many thanks!
