Installed my MGW short shifter today and love the finished result in terms of looks and performance. Took her out for a ride and while there definitely was more effort than the stock shifter, it was nothing that dampened my enthusiasm about the mod.
Got the C6 shift **** cheap off another forum member and had Dennis at Double D Mods wrap it to match my 03's anniversary interior. Right now I have the stock boot but think that I'm going to go with a nicer leather shorter boot - maybe in the neutral/shale split color.
Yes that is Dennis' double din mod bezel and the pioneer head unit (along with amps, speakers, Cold Air Intake - Damn you Dennis!!!)
My only gripe was that the install pics show the old shifter and there are some differences. Also, if you have a vert, remove the waterfall first to allow you to take out the rest of the console.

Welcome to the club. I installed mine a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. The entire driving experience is improved and feels the way it should have shifted from the start. There’s definitely effort going from gear to gear but as everyone says, that should loosen in time, and even if it doesn’t, I will remain very happy with this shifter. Precise shifts are an understatement with this mod.
I have the MGW shifter with C6 shift **** as well.
The C6 shift-**** is definitely a great choice.
The MGW shifter is much harder to shift than stock, but it's way more precise. It's a good-quality shifter.
If you want to lessen the shifting-effort, you can perform the Anti-venom 6 speed modification mod (just found out about this from another thread).
The addition of one or two "Oil Tight" Copper (or aluminum) Washers #65277 M20 3/4'' will make the shifting effort easier without virtually any negative side-effects.

Thinking about swaping out the stock shifter this winter. Looks like the MGW website shows three different shaft lengths stating that the longest is the easiest to shift but only lessens the throw by 25%. Which ones are you folks using?

The latest MGW has an adjustable shaft. I wanted mine exactly stock height so I had to machine a new shaft for it. Even at stock height it still reduces the throw and feels awesome.

Thanks, good to hear your happy with the MGW shifter.
mine is notchy like most of them. I'm used to it now so it's not a deal. But at first it felt like I was forcing it into gear and that seemed awkward to me, and was concerned I was going to break something. But I bought mine with it so I had nothing to compare it to.
I missed second on occasion until I learned how it shifted. Did today as a matter of fact.
Well, I am the exception to this rule. I had a stock shifter, and it sucked. I installed an Ebay shifter with the Anti-Venom mod, and it was very very good. So, I figured if this cheap shifter is this good, an MGW would be awesome. Nope. I had the Ebay shifter with and without the Anti mod, and the MGW with and without the Anti mod. Ebay is better for me.
I've had the MGW for a few months now, and I think that the DRIVER is the thing that changes over time making the shifting better NOT the shifter. I did the antivenom (2 washers) and getting used to the shifter is what makes shifting better. Anyway- good mod, nice interior and I have no complaints at all about the mgw- good product.

Took her out for a nice long ride tonight. I think you have a point. The shifting seemed to get easier today simply because I was getting used to the shifter. I still am amazed at how short the throws are.
Did you notice a great difference when you did the antivenom mod?
