In you folks estimation, what is the best GPS unit portable unit for your money? I tried with the search button, but it is so loaded with sound comments and sound cards I couldn't go through all 31 pages of it. I'd like to get a simply yet comprehensive unit for different routes, and I'm looking at some re-ferbed units which have the same warranty as some new models / Any help is appreciated. Thank you !
I have a Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT (LMT= lifetime maps and traffic). $159.'s from Amazon with free overnight shipping. This past summer we went to Cape Cod, Foxwoods Casino, and a visit to friends in upstate NY. Worked flawlessly, never a problem, the traffic warning was a help. The 5" screen is clear in daylight or night. I replaced a older Tom Tom and found it was much better with the 5" screen. Most major retail electronic stores sell them if you want to look at one but the Amazon price was better and no Pa sales tax.
Back in the dark ages I bought a Garmin 255W. They sell today for about $89, speak street names and have different voices to guide you. We have traveled thousands of miles and have no complaints.
When I purchased mine I went to a big box store and played with them. Wanted to see which one I could figure out easily without reading the instructions. Yeah I ended up with a Garmin.
Of course that's just much opinion and I could be wrong
