I've been getting this reading on my '04 coupe over the last several days. It only happens once in awhile. Once the car starts, the reading goes right out, so I can't RESET it. If I turn the car off and restart, the indication DOES NOT re-appear, and it does not come on during a drive @ 10 minute intervals. My battery is only 15 months old, all of the connections are tight, battery charges @ a constant 14 volts. Is there anything else I can check/do, before heading to the dealer?
My last 04 coupe did the same thing occasionally. My volts were good though, and it never failed to start. From what I remember, the 04's had battery drain issues, so maybe some relation there?
I know with mine if at the first start of the day it turns over a few extra times I get that message. So lately at the first start I turn the key on and wait a few seconds for the fuel pump to engage then start and the car starts right up and I do not get the message.
Good luck.
my "99" has done this for 2 years. I found out that the problem was that my alternator was a 140 amp built in mexico that G.M. used to replace the 110 amp one they were buying from France. The computer reads this as a over charge and sends this message. Use a mirror and look at the bottom of the alternator to see if its a Mexican built or french built unit! Hell, I may be full of crap but its worth a look!

No,you have a point here too.It's possible.
Valeo 110 amp alternator is what you're looking for.
Check the connections at not only the battery of course but also at the starter solenoid.
OK...I'm having a total brain fart but I can't figure out where the starter solenoid is located. At the moment the starter either. Anyone have a pic/image or can someone just flat out tell me my brain is broken and that the starter is located ____(insert location)____???
Well, they are both mounted together and down on the passenger side, rear engine. The starter has to engage the flywheel which is on the back of the engine. Now just to be safe, do not forget that its electrically hot down there unless you disconnect the negative battery cable first.
Before you waist time and money, turn the ignition to on but do not start the car, give time for the computer to do its diagnostic. I do this before putting my seatbelt on and never have any problems. I had notice this problem also.
