Default What size DR's?

I have a bone stock 2003 z06 and i have an extra set of stock rims that i would like to put DR's on for the track. I was thinking about using the 17 inch fronts for the rear with some DR's on it? just curious on what people are running and what sizes.

thanks!

I've got the factory rims on my '02 with a set of 305/35-18 M/T ET Street Drag Radial II's mounted on them. The M/T's also come in 295/45-17 if you wanted to use the 17 inch front rims.

The only tire you should consider given your setup should be 275x40x17s. Hoosiers will be lighter and have the most grip while MTs will provide more life and better traction if caught in the rain.

17s from the front work great on the rears. Before they came out with the drag radials I used the 17 inch et streets. Now I have 275 Mickey Thompson 17 inch Drs on my spare wheels. I use them mostly on the street as I have a drag pack for the track.

Will 16x8 stock camaro wheels fit on the rear of a C5z? Im looking to get a C5z soon, I have a set of my old stock 5 star camaro wheels with MT dr's in 255/50/16's I'd like to still use at the track only.

It is hard to say without test fitting them. I know the CCW drag pack is 16 inch wheels and they are the smallest diameter wheel you can use and still clear the calipers. I would expect they should fit, but would question using an 8 inch wheel. The stock Z06 wheels are 10.5 inches in the rear and if you use a front wheel they are 9.5.

They won't fit with out a little massaging.

Is it because of the offset? Do you mean they would rub the inner fenders?

No, the diameter is too small to clear the calipers/bracket without doing some grinding.

I'd like to run a 16" wheel because the taller sidewall is going to absorb more shock from the launch. I had a set of C5 thinspokes on my old camaro with 305 nittos on the back and I got a much better launch with 255/50/16 MT dr's on my old 16" rims. I searched this topic on google and from what I found you just need to clearence part of the ball joint for them to work. I didnt hear anything else about problems with the calipers.

The 16'' inch rims will clear the calipers. But you have to grind the top of ball joint area for clearence.I belive the 16'' will work great for you.On our 98 auto c5 342 gears it run a 1.56 60 ft with et streets 255-50-16

Good to hear, my 16" MT dr's are like new, I was hoping to use them with my next car too. My 97Z I just sold was making around 375rwhp & with 4:10's these 255/50 MT's hooked up very well.
