I agree with you guys about not putting the C6 badge on there. Just thinking out loud. Ido like that modified C5 badge though.
Got any info on how you did that? Just buy a new one and dremel the ring off? Polish the edges?
Don't think you can polish. The glossy look on the emblem comes from a thin vinyl type material. It peels off and a flat black base is exposed. My emblem is actually peeling this glossy layer right now.
Worked with a guy that put Lexus badges on his Camry company car. He would tell people he won the companies Presidents Club award and the "Lexus"was part of the reward. That year ES300 and Camry did look about the same, use to crack me up.
It's your car do what you like. However, since you asked I'd say don't do it. It's just like when guys put z06 badges and vents on their cars. It's not a z06 so why pretend it is?
If you are going to go through the trouble to replace, can't you replace with new C5 emblems or just take off and clean the current emblems in some way like an ultrasonic bath.
There are some really nice aftermarket emblems, chrome, blackouts, etc., that I think would look a lot better.
When it comes to detailing, I usually don't get close to the emblems. I just keep them nice a clean with a little detail spray.
Similar to C6 wheels on a C5 to me. They are just stock wheels from a different gen. Still flat faced and "stock" but what ever makes you happy and if others don't like it does it really matter?
I don't get it the emblems on my speedway white 01 vert are like new.How are these getting so bad as to have to replace them.I understand want to, but not need to.How do they get that way? I really like the C5 emblems but I have to admit the ones with the halo remove are nice and very clean looking.
I removed my emblem. The car lets you know its a Corvette in 47 other spots on the car. I don't think it really matters as far as a base emblem goes. I'm considering putting '69 Z28 emblems on my '96 Z28. Something to consider is that it may attach differently on the nose. There are 2 posts that go through the bumper. I had them filled on my car. Personally I like the modified c5 emblem or the billet ones.
