Leave it in 3. If you leave it in D you can shift to 4 if you have to lift.
Put it in 3rd and slightly load the converter pre-launch. I had a lot of practice while stock and that worked out the best for me. I tried to load the converter more at times, but I would red-light and I did not notice a significant difference in times.
I need to get mine to the track but been wondering what I'd run with vararam, corse, 3.42's and tune.
I say here alot of hard pulls in D with a set of good tires on the back and you are going to be getting a new trans befor long doing that. Better pull out in 3rd then hit D in it.... Robert

You don't need to go into D for a 1/4 mile run even w/3.42s
Leave it in 3rd, lower your rear tire pressure and add some air to the front ones. Put in competition mode and do a nice burn out to warm the rear tires up. Stage at the light and try and keep your foot on the brake and just give it enough throttle to keep from creping forward. When you see the last yellow light relies your foot from the brake and punch the gas pedal. If your tires hook you should be good to go.

I never go though the water nor do any burnout, just a short chirp before I stage.Power braking over 1000 rpm's has always hurt my ET.I think the computer senseses engine load with no rpm or speed gain and starts to retard timing.I dont fool with my tire pressures either, but I do use comp mode.
