The more I read the forum, the more I think I may just take this approach.

Crap. Did I say it's a Z06? Sorry. It's pretty much a base Vette, not the Z06. There was a Z06 sitting next to it though, that was mighty tempting....

Now, need to go give the new baby a bath. The Camaro I traded in for the Vette was 14 years old with 220,000 miles on it and the paint was so badly faded, it just wasn't worth washing and waxing any more. With the new baby, it's back to weekend wash duty!

Nice man. I just joined the forum last month, and I'm still shopping for my first Vette, but I'm only 26, so I know I'll still be blown away by the one I finally get...

even if it takes me two decades to find it.

Nothing wrong with waiting! Keep stashing your cash and it will come!

Congrats on your new Vette. You will love the C5!

A couple things to watch out for...

1.) The nose is longer than most people realize. It is also low, so parking blocks are bad news. Try to back in and park if possible.

2.) Trucks, SUVs, etc. have a hard time seeing you. Give yourself plenty of room and add some aftermarket exhaust, headers, etc. so at least they can hear you!

Have fun!

Thanks to all y'all.

Took forever to wash and wax the car. Discovered it had NO wax on it at all BUT, the paint was in great condition, nonetheless. Not 100% perfect but at least 95% perfect. I'm impressed for a 7 or 8 year old car. It must have been kept in a garage.

So now, it looks ever better than before. I've been a fan of Meguiar's products for years but discovered that a lot of my stuff has been sitting on the shelf for overly long now and has gone bad. So, I'll have to wax it again next week with some new wax.

I'll tell you what else I noticed when I started washing the car in my driveway: It's a chick magnet. Even the married women in the neighborhood were over to my house today! Good thing I'm devoted to my honey of 22 years!

More specific replies below.

Dewd. Dood. Dude. Which one is LEAST boring and repetitive?

Okay, this is a new one. When I'm on the Busa, I wave at all other bikes on the road, including cruisers but never knew there was a waving protocol for Vettes. Do you stick your hand out the window and wave or what?

FWIW, I still haven't seen any other Vettes on the road since I picked it up. Interesting....

First thing to go, then the Carmax plates! I kept it all on there for a week, that should be long enough. FWIW, had a much better time with those guys than I expected and FAR better than dealing with a standard dealership, by a LONG shot.

Yeah, finding that out. Going to take some getting used to. Parking has been a bit of a challenge already because finding wide spaces is tough. Getting a space on the end of a row is gold because I can snuggie up to the line on the outside of it. Found some bumper skids for the bottom of the front which I may pick up for $50.

Hadn't thought of that. Another reason to have a care where I park.

Been thinking about driving down to Ruidoso and looking at some real estate. If I do, I'll let you know and perhaps have lunch or something.

Re "The Wave". If the weather allows open windows wave, thumbs up or whatever. I've seen people wink their headlights open. Just acknowledge a fellow vette enthusiast! Again welcome & enjoy!
