Window Valet Question...

Window Valet Question...
I just installed the window valet for my 2004 convertible. Easy install and it works great. However, I was curious what the OBD port was originally designed for? I find it interestingly convenient how the window valet module just plugs into an open, unused electronics port underneath the dash. What other function does it perform?

It is used for trouble shooting the car, The dealer and other mechanics can plug into it, Another use for it is most States plug into it to smog the car, The smog machines look for codes and not ready system. When I smog my car I have to remove the valet.

even the owner can purchase a diagnostic plug in to get additional information from the onboard diagnostic system.

Thanks for the feedback. So when I get a tune and they remove the window valet, will I need to reprogram it?

It's a small electronic module that once installed, allows you to lower your windows by pressing the unlock button three times on your key fob. You can then raise your windows by hitting the lock button three times on your key fob.
It is particularly useful for convertible owners who can lower their windows and unlock the soft top and fold it back without opening the door, getting in the car, etc.
