I've pretty much owned them all, except a C-4, and a C-6,,,maybe that's a clue?
I love the styling of the late C-3s, all of the C-2s and the later C-1s, especially the 62. The C-5 is in a class of it's own though, especially from an engineering standpoint.
I think every generation of Corvette is unique in its own right and it's probably impossible to pick the "best" looking generation because beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder (and owner).
Regarding the C5, I think the design is unique and perhaps "timeless" in that many non-Corvette owners still on a regular basis, confuse the now 16-year old design as being "new". I don't think that too many people mistook the 1982 C3 as being new in 1999 or the 1996 C4 as being new in 2012.
Perhaps that will change in 2014 when the C7 is in production, however I still laugh at how many times people think my 2004 convertible is new.
Is the best looking vette ever built. There will be a day when we ar all gone many people will agree with us who think so. The C2 being right up next to it. C3 is a nice car and what I grew up with but they aren't the best looking vette imo.
I like every Gen, but I will have to say, the C6 is my least favorite. Not because I don't have one, it just looks boxy to me. I may have one some day, but only because technology may force it's hand.
For a complete car as in exterior styling, interior and performance combined the later C4 would be my favorite generation. But the HardTop C5 beats them even with a crappy interior.
When judging a car I look at 3 things, interior, exterior, and performance.

The '63 split has always been my personal favorite as far as the body cosmetics go.
But, with that being said, the '61 & '62, with the tailend transitioning into the C2, is and will probably always be my dream car. Every time I see one my knees get a little weak. It's a bit odd because I've always been a fan of the hide-a-ways, but for some reason I have an infactuation with the last two years of the C1.

I totally agree with the '61, '62 aspect of this reply!!!!! I never understood the fascination with the mid years other than the '63 GS (now that was a serious 'Vette!!) but the '61's and '62's were just a visual orgasm!!!!!! Didn't care for the rounded off back-ends of the earlier ones.
During the early '80's, the Harley dealership I worked at also sold used 'Vettes. We had a crap-load of C2's (big blocks w/ sidepipes and small blocks), a C3 or two, and one '62 sapphire blue roadster with white top and interior. We used the cars for shop errands and transportation so I have driven a lot of C2's and was never impressed. However, climb into the '62 and look out over that mile-long gorgeous hood, settle into that pristine white interior with the top down and you are about to have a class experience that is something no Rolls Royce or other car can even come close to!!!!!!!! The sad thing is that I could have bought that car for $3000.00 in '83, now you can't touch one for anything less than about ten times that cost!!!!!!
Have owned three C4's and two C5's. Have loved each of them, but have never forgotten that '62!!!!!! That was the dream car that got away!!!! It was the Swedish super-model that I dated for awhile that ruined me for anything else!!
I never thought that I would buy a Corvette , but ever since the C5 came out I was hooked ! I also like the C6 that's my two cents on a 100,000.00 dollar sports car.

I think the C5 looks great, that's why I own one. But the '67 is a LEGEND. There is a reason a '67 427 costs over $100K.
This doesn't look fast and mean? Maybe it is a generational thing. If you aren't old enough maybe you won't appreciate the classics. Not that I am that old, I was't born when this was made.
I cant believe it that so many of you like the 62 That is on my Bucket list I will sell my house for one when the time comes. Back in 08 I had the money to buy a 2008 C6Z06 CASH. I ended up buying a 2000 C5 and now it is faster then any stock 2008 C6Z06 I see the C5 as the best and most successful build ever. The lines are spot on except the rear facia they made it a little to small on the spoiler I put the Spectra Works on and now it is perfect. The one thing is all C5's should have come with the LS6 as a base motor. The C5Z06 should have just been a FRC as the only differance.
Sorry but I think the c3 is the best looking body style.
I would tend to agree with that. I find great things about each generation but I find the C3 pulls ahead. And yes I do plan on getting a C3 (and keep my C5) in the future!
