Two stick out in my mind as being the best looking for different reasons.
The C5 looks longer and sleeker when adding a few bolt on's and the C6 looks to me to being a classier ride until you really mod the outside then it takes on a whole different appearance as being a fast ride.
Never did or have got use the the front end on the C6. Just looks out of place to me. Super nice and great built cars but I"ve seen very few without changing the color to give a race appearance that caught my attention.
As to the older vettes I think they look better stock. You can make them look busy fast by adding to them trying to fix them up. Some I like but most over kill the car trying to change the lines.
Just my views.
Pro Mod has gone crazy in drag racing. Just seems like anyone that has a good sorce of money is now going straight into pro mod. They are coming up with some of the coolest designed vette bodys for those cars. Know its not what you guys were asking but the coolest vette of all time to me is some of those bodys they are custom designing for the cars. From 50s to light years ahead of where we are now. Thoes are some cool looking rides those boys come up with.

I really like my 01 coupe, but I must say the 63-67 coupes are by far better looking. JMO
As far as performance, ride and technology, the C5 is light years ahead of the 64 coupe I owned many years ago. It was quite the car back then though. It's hard to compare one generation to another. They have all been top of the heap in their time.
When i compare the c5/c6, i could find things i like and dont like about either of them. You stick a nicely lowered and modded c5 next to a nicely lowered and modded c6, they both look very good in their own right. Its very easy to bring the c5 up to the current level of technology too. Put some l.e.d taillights in, H.i.d headlights and l.e.d interior lights and you'd be able to fool alot of people into thinking the car in new.
Ok, I have an 82 C3. Stock look except for American Racing wheels. Kind of like them better than the stock wheels. I am also acquiring a 99 C5 Coupe. I think that the lines of the C3 are what I remember as a kid in the 70's and wanting that StingRay look. I also think the lines of the C4 are not very attractive. So If I had to rank, it would be a tie between the 82 C3 (last year and integrated spoilers) and the early C5's.
The C4 HAD to happen to make the transition to what we have today, but I wish the would have hurried up with it!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
