I'm installing my rear-mount MP3 player and have all the wiring in now, etc. but I can't find a good 12V switched (accessory) place to pick up power. If I have to go "always on" I could do that, but I'd rather go switched if possible.
You have a couple of options to get an additional switched acc power source
The easiest is to use fuse #22 which is live but not used for any other function. I used an “add a circuit” connector to hook in. This gives you the switched hot.
These are not my pics but show you the hook ups
You can see how the connectors slot into the fuse box/
The other option is to hook up into the spare connector which is available for ancillary devices. I believe this is used for the CD changer so it may not be an option for you if you have one of those fitted.
In the passenger footwell (unless you have a 2004) behind the kick board you’ll see a fuse block and to its left a silver box which is the BCM. There are three wires taped together feeding into a connector.
The Black wire is ground; the Orange wire is powered through fuse #7 but is permanent hot. The Yellow wire is powered through fuse #11 and is switched hot when the key is in the ACC or ON positions. Hook up to the Yellow for switched ACC.
It's in and working, but I only get audio on one channel. Is there a difference in the CD changer adapter for different years? I currently have a GM10-AUX.

The GM10-AUX has a red and a black RCA connector. I tried switching them and still only get audio on the right side. Balance works correctly and I get left and right audio on radio and CD. I don't have anything that I can plug into the RCA connectors to verify that both are putting out audio.
I don't know exactly how this is set-up, but if there's an 1/8 inch plug connecting the mp3 player to the system, make sure it's plugged in all the way. If not, you'll only get one channel.

This is set up as a replacement for the cd-changer. No 1/8" plug anywhere.
