Ok here is what I have, today the top guide pin bolt on my front left caliper backed itself out while going to work. i ve never messed with them so either previous owner didnt loctite used ones back in or whatever but anyway. the car is stuck on the side of the road and the dealer wont be able to get me new ones for a few days. just so i can get the car home, what size is the guide pin bolt. i have read it is m8x1.25 but i dont know how long it is. i just need a bolt that will fit the threads so i can get it back in the driveway until the dealer can get me new GM guide pin bolts back in.
metric m8 x1.25 = 1-1/4" long you need a metric bolt!
I believe the 1.25 is actually the thread pitch not the length. I also don't think it's just a regular metric bolt. It is a specialty fastener made for calipers. You can get them at an auto parts store. Did it just back out or fall out and is gone?

yeah it just backed out for some reason or another. it had aftermarket rotors on it when i bought it a year ago. PO must have not used loctite. i was driving to work this morning and heard the unmistakable noise of something bouncing under the car and then i started hearing the sound of the caliper bouncing against the inside of the wheel. anywhooo. i know it uses a special bolt. I have new ones on order from the dealer. napa has the m8*1.25 pitch threads but they are not sure of the length.
16 or 20mm
or for the 15 mile limp trip from the parking lot i left it in to home that 4mm wont matter enough to make a difference?
