I used to take mine out. You have to reprogram your radio with the security code and fobs, but its no big deal. That said, invest in a float charger. I use the smallest Battery Tender (about $30) and leave the battery connected in the car. Much easier and better for the battery and car.

You can do it, but not really necessary. I hook mine to a Battery Tender Plus and its good for all winter.

Hope you didn't have the security turned on the radio, If so I hope you wrote down the access code. It is a pain to get your radio to work again.

I agree battery tender or CTEK etc.is best option and that is what I use BUT.........I just had to start storing my car at a facility WITHOUT electricity(very common situation), and thus battery removal is the ONLY option. I still put the removed battery on a tender in the garage.
Dont quite understand previous poster saying it is not good for the car? IMHO nonsense.

Yes. You quite definitely want to remove a battery from a car in cold storage where there is no electricity.
Take it home and put it on a desulfating trickle charger, and monitor the acid level at least every few weeks. Use distilled water.
Keep the battery tray area completely clean. Use a battery acid cleaner like this:
to make sure there is no hidden acid lying around.

You will have a red light on the radio that blinks when the key is off.

I have a file that tells you what to do if the radio is locked. Let me know.

Ahhh the beauty of the CF. If you have a problem there's someone here that knows how to fix it. Hopefully the radio was not in security mode

I take mine out for the winter. I had one bad experience with a trickle charger and it soured me so I don't use them.

I have been taking mine out every winter since 2004 never had a problem or had to reprogram anything.
