I went out to look at a guy's top today. He had it on CL for $600 and I figured I could get it for $500. He had an '04 that he bought with both tops. It came with the body-colored panel mounted and that's the only one he used. The car was wrecked so he was selling the clear one.
On first inspection, it looked just like a 7 year-old unused panel should look. When we put it on my car, though, and looked up into the sunshine, it had a haze that wouldn't go away after cleaning both sides. It wasn't the "crazing" discussed earlier in this thread, just a haze like there was some clouding in the acrylic. I decided to pass on the panel. I guess I'll just go buy the remanufactured unit.
Today I picked up a clear panel in nice condition for $295. It was much nicer than the $550 one I saw yesterday. I had all but decided to spring for the remanufactured one at $675 when this one popped up on CL. The remanufacturing outfit will still take my old one for $175 so my net cost will only be $120.
Now I can keep an eye out for a solid top.
Thanks for all the informative posts.

I wish to God some dealer would just step up and make a carbon fiber replacement that was always available on order. This has happened to so many of the clear tops, that if they could do it for a reasonable price (for CF), they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock.
