New cup holders

What do you think?
I think there are plenty of cup holders out there that meet the grade for our C/5's, unlike the one you propose.
If I were to put a cup holder in my car I would probably go with one of those made by "Girl in a box"
Good luck.

Did you do a search on here for the thread on the cups? For about $50 you can get a double cupholder that will sit alot higher, and it's also deeper.
Looking at it I feel like it's to low to the floor and it will stick out to far. I can see your wife kicking it and spilling the cup. Good way to end a nice trip.
Overall not a bad idea, but for a little money you can get a better cupholder.
Good luck.

I think that is a great idea as long as you remember there is a drink there, It is worth a try for sure, At the most you are out a set of floor carpets if it doen't pan out.
Now that is thinking out of the box.....

I can see by your comments some of you really gave this some thought. I looked at the "store bought" cupholders. The girl in the box type looked kinda Mickey Mouse to me though they probably work well and are only in the way when they have something in them. The double molded one looked really good but seemed to me would be in the way all the time, though I could be wrong. Pictures can be deceiving.
The ones I made will only be in the way if you have a tall drink in it. Otherwise your leg will go over the top of it. This will work well for me because I never get one of those huge drinks, usually a can or small bottle. As for the wife and her Route 44, we will see....... I think it will work fine. If she should kick it, it really has no where to go, it will be between her leg, the console and the seat. It will probably only slide it back a little bit. Someone commented about having to get the drink by the top, a valid point and one that made me think. I went and got in the car with one of her giant cups. It's tall enough you can easily get the drink from the side instead of the top. A smaller, say 12 oz coffee cup may be a different story, but the shorter cups don't collapse as easy either.
I have yet to see a cupholder for a Vette that I really like. Just trying to get something that works for us and looks decent. I know the part that actually holds the cup will work fine. I have used one of those for the past 4 years in a 350Z. I bought a double plug and chug for the Z and hated the thing. So, I took them apart and made a single for myself out of one side of it. They hold most anything pretty well.
We are heading out in the morning for a neighboring state to visit the in-laws......I'm sure the trip will start with "can we run by Sonic on the way out of town".....I'm pretty sure I'm going to like that drink in her new cup holder better than it balancing in that thing GM calls a cupholder. Sitting in front of my ash tray and next to the shifter.
Yall have a great weekend.

My problem also is finding a holder for my cell phone and ipod etc. I just bought one of those holders that go in the cup holder so now I lost my cup holder.
Oh well! I still have ole faithful. My lap.
It works just fine, even with large drinks. Ask me how I know, or click the link above.

I found that the one on the driver's side will hold one of those stainless travel mugs with no problems. It doesn't get in the way at all and as time goes by becomes fairly natural to reach down get it and put it back with no problems. I didn't try it but think it would not work well for me with a really tall drink, like a Route 44, because you would have to move your leg over a little to side to clear it.
As for the passenger side. The wife really liked it. It was plenty sturdy to hold the Route 44 she always takes with her. It appeared to be a little in the way of her legs. She said it wasn't a big deal to her and she had plenty of room. She had no problem picking up her cup or placing it back in the holder. It was no problem for her to grasp the cup on the side. As with the drivers side, if she used a shorter drink container it wouldn't be in the way at all.
All in all I'm pleased with them. They held the drinks well with no worry about them turning over. They are completely out of your way if you don't use too tall of a container and I think they look decent.
I don't believe they are the perfect solution or one that everyone would like for one reason or another. It's just another option and the one I like the best for now. I'm thinking now a cup holder that attached under the seat and traveled with the seat may be the best option. Would need to make a bracket to attach it and would take some figuring to get optimal height and placement. May think about it some more, may not.
