Default Rear Main Seal
Hi guys,

My mechanic told me that I have a factory rear main seal installed on my engine.

He was able to tell that because it is gray in color and GM did not offer a gray replacement only black.

Is this true??? I have reciepts showing it was changed and want to know what to believe.

How old is your receipt? They did change the style of the seal a few years ago.

Do you know when the style was changed? My mechanic is saying that if I have that seal in there it can only be from the factory and you cant buy the gray seal again and never could.

No but they changed the part number when they changed the style. What's the part number on your receipt?

Doubt you could ever convince a dealer to return your money even if it was true.
