Default custom ram air

so i will be creating a custom ram air for my slp blackwing intake. i bought the car with it on and do not intend on spending another $300 for a vararam. i hope to replicate the power output with this custom ram air. i will have a part of the fan shroud cut, and install and "wall pocket" with mesh inserts underneath the filter. i will have plastic housing routed to the fog light housings. i also want to in some way isolate the intake from the motor somehow. this thread will be updated with pics within the next couple of days.

No, I'm thinking of building my own vararam with two ducts leading straight to the fog lights. Nothing that can be seen with hood down. The blackwing will be enclosed in its own air box as well

I did this on my 02 vette. works great on the highway once you get some air going. Plus with 2 big fans going on the dyno rollers. Plus you need to cut out all are drill all the holes you can get into the covers in the fog light covers. p.s. mine didnt look all that go with the hood up on the car.. Good luck with the job... Nice ingenuity. Shouldn't be to hard to fab up. Take your time and try not to destroy the fan shroud. The corvette is a bottom breather so if you destroy the shroud you will have a dirty engine bay. Looking forward to the pics.

You can get a Vararam for $250 shipped, and you can sell your used Blackwing here on the forum (depending on how used it is) for
$100-175ish. All of that fab work is not worth $100 IMO.

That is where you install the Mail Order Tune when the USPS delivers it.

That makes a lot of sense. To get the Vararam to work like it does took a lot of design and testing (read $$$$) - while you may be able to make the ductwork, etc, I have my reservations that it will perform as well as the Vararam. But good luck and will be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
