Default Knock sensor 1999 vette

Hey all;

Haven't been in here for a while. Now I'm back with a question. My coupe threw a p0332 code. It a knock sensor. It's located under the intake manifold. Any know how tough a job this is going to be to replace?
Thanks, Jake..

Jake,
It's not that hard of a job. Here is a write-up from LS1 How To on how to remove the manifold, once it is removed then you can remove the KS

That's a very good link - best of luck changing the sensor.

The intake only takes 30 minutes or so to get it off and 15 once you know the tricks. Have yourself two pieces of tape for the two rear bolts...to hold them up enough, but not too high to get it out and back in again.

I hate to rain on anyones parade... But I just had this problem and the real trouble was the knock sensor oil seals were bad and the cylindrical holes in the valley cover for the knock sensors were full of oil. That means the knock sensors and the knock sensor wiring harness were swimming in oil. That's why it was throwing the code. Granted, this is only slightly worse than just having to replace a knock sensor, but the parts do add up. I replaced both knock sensors, both knock sensor oil seals, the harness, the valley cover gasket, etc. The local dealership had all these parts in stock, which tells me, this is a common problem...

That's kinda my plan...doing what you did. How much did it all add up to?

I think while the car is down and winter is here. May be a good project to clean the throttle body, change the plugs and flush the cooling system while everything is part! Lastly...clean, wax and detail!!

The parts were around $300, the knock sensors were $80 each and the harness was $75. You can probably find them cheaper if you can wait to get them, I wanted to put it back together. You might not have to replace them, it was probably just the oil, but the time and labor to get back to them, told me to just do it right the first time.

Intake r&r is easy don't let the guys scare you that say they would not try it them selfs just take your time and be easy with vacuum lines. Make sure to add some hose to the map sensor in the rear.

I'm dusting off this thread because of this:

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/he...5255_P0332.pdf

I'm experiencing the symptoms. I can throttle up, past the pinging, which tells me the engine management is doing something, but that's not what this post is about.

I'm wondering if anyone has brought this service bulletin to the attention of a dealer and got a freebie fix out of it.

I actually don't mind doing the job myself, but if GM will pick up the tab, I'm happy to let them pay.

Jake, once you pull the intake off, BLOCK OFF all the passages to the heads. Don't let anything get into one.
