The Z06 Boasts 405 HP every where on the car. However it drops about 350 or so to the road; RWHP. So, to keep the car reliable with close to 27MPG Hwy, what would it take to drop 405 onto the tarmac?
I can't see spending in the $10k to FI an engine for 55HP, it would be overkill for this particular application anyways.
NA could probably get me there easy, but I think I'd lose some driveability and gas as well.
Where is the happy middle as far as MODs are concerned? I know a tune is a must, and that there are comprimises with these things.
This is all hypothetical too, I think it was make an awesome kit as well; if the specs could be worked out. (405 RWHP kit) Every car is different tho.

FI will get you much more than 55whp.
A mild CAM, LT Headers, a CAI and a tune will get you between 400-410rwhp, so there you go.
Your stock 02 Z, with LG Pro long tube headers & LG 3" X pipe going through the stock Ti cat backs & a conserative Mustang Dyno tune
will put you right at the 390 rwhp.Higher numbers on other dyno's.
Slap some drag radials on & a vararam/callaway,etc cold air induction
& you will be putting 11 second ET's onto the tarmac.
Your car is all most 10 yrs old & there still are not that many cars in todays production that could put up that kind of performance numbers.
You stated that the "Z's boast 405 HP every where on the car"
If your car is stock there should only be (1) 405 HP on each front fender & it's not like it's a huge neon sign.
I have 640 HP to the tires and I get 29 MPG..... WOOT
As stated do the typical bolt ons and maybe a small cam if you want to keep it tame and youll be right at around 425 rwhp and still get 28-30 MPG if the tuner knows what hes doing- remember its all in the tune.
228R cam(valvesprings, hardened pushrods), Long tubes, Catless X, Underdrive, ziptie mod and a good tune. Still drives like stock, but with more grunt everywhere. Fuel mileage loss was minimal

As everyone else has already stated; for not a whole lot of money, a true CAI like Vararam or Honker, some LT's, maybe a ported TB, and a good dyno tune gets you real close to that 405hp to the wheels...without having to tear into the motor. I decent streetable cam added to the mix will exceed that number without a doubt...but now you're into the motor. That's your call if you're comfortable with that.
Can't be that simple... Shoudln't you match rods and heads to that as well?
Curious as to how far you can push a tune before you really start to damage your car...
Of course you would need to upgrade the supporting components. I listed the major components that would get you where you want to be. Sorry if I was not clear, but I hope what I listed (as many have) helps get an idea of what you would need to get to where you want to be.
And yes, get what I listed, plus supporting components and it is that simple...you will be 405 rwhp (probably more) with a tune.
This is excellent....everyone is saying mild cam, what type of lift numbers or prefabricated brands would I want to look for.
I see England green all over the place, and a couple of A&A as well.....I've used CompCam in the past and they had some pretty good quality product as well.
My other plan is to sell my car unmolested and get a cheaper vette to tinker with. I would be looking way beyond 405 then. There's something about taking a low mileage good running car, and putting mods on it that leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
"Never buy another person's hotrod" is what I've heard in this forum....honestly I tend to agree.

112+4
228/228 or 228/232
.58X/.59X
These are great street friendly CAMs.
I had a COMP 112+4; 228/232; .588/.595 and made good power throughout power band with supporting components and LTs and VR CAI.
