Yes, most of the time I was running in competitive mode just to be safe since I'm still getting used to it. I ran one session with the traction off.
Chin isn't doing Sebring until March! I may have to look elsewhere.
Mike's new engine was also stout as you were asking. He was dead even with me everytime all the way down the back straight. I couldn't pull him through 146. After that it was adios as he roasted me in the braking and cornering.
Nothing wrong with competitive mode. I still use it. Over 10 years of tracking the cars it's probably saved me a few times.
Yeah, I saw that there is no Chin Sebring event in January. Too bad. Let me know if you come up with an alternative. We may do Homestead in Feb.
What did Mike get the weight down to on the BMW? For a bone stock street car to hang with a race car on the straights is pretty impressive. You'll get faster and faster in the corners and braking as you drive the car. I'm betting his glimpses in the rear view mirror will become more frequent.
What are your impressions on the Carbotech XP12/XP10 pads? I plan 75% track use for my car with limited street use. Are the Carbotech pads noisy on the street and will they stop okay at non-racetrack temps? Thanks.
So far I'm impressed with them. They bit well at the track although I could have been harder on them and they stop great on the street. Far more bite than the stock pads for sure. They do squeal from time to time depending on pedal pressure but not at every stop. I talked to a guy at Carbotech about it for awhile as a dual usage before buying them as he said I could run them street and track.
I run the Carbotech XP12/XP10 on both the road courses and the street - no problems. They provide great performance while not being as rough on the rotors as the Wilwood H or Hawk DTC-70 pads, which are also great pads.
