Trunk CD changer
HELP! The trunk mounted 12 cd changer in my 1998 is stuck. I opened it but most of the mechanisms are still sealed or at least appear to be. Does anyone have experience with this or an idea as to how I can get it to reject or otherwise figure out what is wrong? I expect a cd just got knocked out of the slot on the rough streets. I took the changer out and tried shaking it to move the cd back into it's slot but that hasn't worked. The problem seems to be at the cd # 12 slot. When I slide the door on top, the changer is trying to function but won't. I'd like to salvage the changer but if I can't, I will rip it apart because I don't want to lose the cd's.

I had the same problem in my 1998. I took the unit apart and lubricated the cassette guides. it worked o.k. for a while. I ruined a few CD's over the last year trying to fish them out when it jammed. I got tried of the B.S and just bought a new system from DD mods. Now I can play MP3 too!

I placed double sided tape on a popcicle stick and got it out. However this happened too often so out came the unit and in its place I installed an iPod interface device. Plugged right into the plug that went into the disc carrier. Now I have 2000 songs at my disposal and the iPod opperates off the CD functions on the stock head unit. Cost: $90. Time spent to R&R: 20 minutes.
