Default Canada friendly vendors

I find all the vendors extremely expensive once shipping is calculated. The majority of these vendors charge shipping on each part when you order multiple items.Usually it is obvious they could all be packaged as one shipment.
Any leads for Canada friendly vendors?

Yep it's pretty difficult to set the site up for Canadian shipping so its best to contact us as well. I ship up there pretty much everyday.

You live in Surrey which is minutes from the US border.....I live 10 minutes from the US border also so I have my orders shipped to a shipping and receiving service in Washington State and pick it up myself.....shipping is free generally within the US and I do my own paperwork...its easy and saves me a lot of $$$$.... PM me and I will help you out as the vendors on this forum always try to help to keep costs down but as soon as it has to cross the border shipping companies need top cover their costs which has nothing to do with the vendors.

Just a word of advice for my fellow Canadians. Do not ever accept shipping through UPS to Canada. They will absolutely ream you with additional brokerage fees. USPS / Canada Post will not charge any additional customs fees for items with a stated value of under $100.00. Furthermore, you should not be charged any customs fees for USA made items but this does not always work. But, at least it will be a reasonable charge.

UPS make up their own rules and will charge you ridiculous fees which may be more than what you actually payed for the item. Ask me how I know........

I have learnt this the hard way. I do not use any US vendor which uses UPS to ship to Canada unless all customs and brokerage fees are pre-calculated and are reasonable. Corvette Central and Tirerack have this set up for Canadian customers.

100% agreed, I will not use them. I got charged 60usd to ship an order from summit ($1200) and when it got to my door I had to pay another $270cdn.

I like USPS or I ship to a friend in detriot.

Good thread!

Also I am doing everything in my will power to not buy one of those radio bezals with a double din!

I just learned this the hard way trying to return something to Canada that was defective. Not knowing any better I shipped it UPS at a cost of $26. When it arrived they wanted $67 COD, from the seller for brokerage and duties. He refused the shipment and I guess it's on it's way back. I'm not feeling very good about dealings across the border right now.

BTW, I heard Fedex does the same thing.

After dealing with UPS, I generally get everything shipped to Point Roberts to the letter carrier. I will occasionally get things sent to Canada by U.S. Postal Service.

Whenever I have shipped UPS I refuse to accept the package and refuse to pay their brokerage fees; I tell them send it back to the depot and I will clear my own goods. This necessitates a trip to the UPS depot at the Vancouver airport. where I pickup the paperwork and travel to the airport customs office on Miller Road. At Canada Customs you present the shipping documents and pay duty and taxes (if any) then go back to UPS with the stamped documents and get your package with no UPS fee charges; yes it's a hassle, but in addition to the ridiculous UPS brokerage fees, more often than not the customs charges from UPS are wrong. I have often had a $20 or $30 charge on my UPS invoice as duty and when I go to Canada customs they charge me much less or sometimes nothing.

I find it is way less aggravating to make a Saturday morning drive to Point Roberts - especially when the vendor offers free shipping in the U.S.A.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Paul at West Coast Corvettes just stepped up and asked me to give him a list and he would do a package dealio.Excellent and good on him!!!!! I updated my cart to make it worth his time to do this for me.
I sell parts so the items I want from US sources are usually just small specialty item(ie sill decals) Paul has reaffirmed my belief in Vette service.

Are there brokerage fees if we are buying from Canada, shipped to the US? If so, will the vendor know what these fees are at order time?

Corvette Central is pretty much the best Canadian Friendly vendour out there.... no brokerage fees as they act as their own customs broker and fill out all the forms, charge and pay the appropraite taxes etc, and have reasonable shipping rates - I use them as much as I can... great customer service for us, plus right now they have a free shipping sale on!
If I can't get it supplied by Corvette Central, I usually get it shipped to the UPS store in the U.S. at the border crossing and pick it up there myself....
