I bought one from Rodney years ago no issues...but mine was for a 99 and the earlier headlight motors are different in the way they are put together perhaps that is why you have differences in kits...

Early cars (97, 98, 99) had screws that held the case halves together. It is not necessary to use the brace. Later cars - 00 through 04, the case was sealed and glued. The brace is a major improvement over simply gluing the halves together.

Darn I didn't know about the brace and have two without it that I was going to install in my '04 for preventive maintenance. How hard would it be to make the brace? Does anyone have a template or a drawing?
