I have it on my car, and I use it. With my job, it would be BAD to get a speeding ticket. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if the car wasn't equipped with HUD, but it is a nice option to have.
It spoils you when you get older like some of us. Seems processing analog takes longer to do than looking out the glass & seeing digital. wow! I dont belive I just said that! older?
I ALWAYS wear polarized sunglasses when driving a car in sunlight and the HUD has never been affected by it.
I stopped looking to the dash after a while all together and when I changed to my other car for the winter I naturally kept glancing where the hud would be first.
Not saying it's necessary or whatever. It's nice to have thats about it.
It comes in really helpful when you are leaving the bar after one too many drinks and you NEED to keep your eyes on the road and the speed at the same time without looking down; the display helps.
Sounds like what I thought. Nice to have, but not really a huge deal. I don't have one and to be honest I think it may a cool thing to have on occasion but It's one less thing to worry about. Another reason I love the FRC I have. It has the basics and that's plenty for me.
Take it easy on Steve,,he probably STILL has some aching joints the the ol bod!! I'll bet he still wasn't squinting into the HUD on the Texas mile though!! As I recall somewhere around 190ish!! As for me,,on the strip I go 80% by ear and just use a quick glance at the tach just before redline and pull a shift. Side note,,the LS1 reeves a LOT quicker than my big block,,and the first pass in the FRC got carried away and hit the rev limiter in 1,2&3,,after that pass I learned!! Hope you're back to 100% Steve!!You decide to get another C5 ,or are you modding the C6 now??
Gene, thanks and Tracy was ribbing me as we have been on a few runs together. Not sure what I will do yet, I kept the blower kit off the C5 and I also purchased one for a C6, so I can go either way, going to keep the 09 stock as it is our daily driver
Seems like HUD is a important option when buying used. Is this a must have option. Thanks
When I was shopping for my Corvette I didn't know what HUD stood for and had never seen one. Checked my C5 window sticker and the HUD is part of "CORVETTE COUPE PREFERRED EQUIPMENT GROUP 2" along with 9 other nice to have items.
It's nice but early on I had to force myself to use it having used dash gauges for a very loooooooonnnnng time.
It looks neat, especially at nite! You can choose the info it displays.
A HUD is absolutely essential if you want to know how fast you're going while backing up!
