Anyone seen these American eagle decals on the '98 pace car before? I'm thinking of buying this car but I've not ever seen them before. Looks like it's missing a few other decals as well so the claim of a true pace car is questionable. Any info would be great!

shouldnt have the eagles, missing the decals that say pace car and indianapolis 500 and the date, missing the yellow wagon wheels, should have yellow leather... Check the RPO codes to see if its a real one
It does have the yellow leather and the yellow wheels are in boxes with the car - which is great since I would have wanted chromies anyways! I don't mind buying the extra decals to complete the package. I've not had luck in using the vin to authenticate it's true heritage.
On the bottom of the rear storage compartment lid should be a decal with all the car's options. It should list Z4Z which is the Indy Pace Car Replica (a extra $5,039 with auto and $5,804 with manual trans).
Since these cars were fully equipped (only options were front license plate frame, the 12 disc CD player, body side moldings, and magnesium wheels), it should include RPO F45, the selective real time damping (shocks). You should have a switch for them on your center console.
With the yellow leather, I would bet its a real one (who would swap those seats into a car!). Good luck!

Sorry, but the Pace Cars did not come with F45, they were FE1 cars.
I have one, and it does not have the optional suspension....in fact I don't think I've ever seen one that did. Doesn't mean it couldn't - it just was not standard with RPO Z4Z.

Thanks for correcting me, I was just going by what the "Corvette Black Book" said.
Man, his car doesn't even have the humped rear deck! Personnaly, I an not a decal fan. Great collector car that should stay in the garage or be vrought out for special events!
Have not looked at the RPO code (silly me...). However, all the missing decals are in a box that comes with the car. The rear 'eagle' is a decal but the side ones are painted (airbrushed) on. I REALLY don't like the eagles (especially since I'm in Canada - no offence..!), however, if there is a story behind them then I would definately reconsider.
If they are open tomorrow I'll ask if they can find the RPO code. That would be the best confirmation and starting point.
The "Eagles" are after market, previous owners personal touches...
Yes, a few decals are missing.
The Indy "logo" is in the wrong location. it is almost impossible to remove it and reuse/stick it on again cleanly.
The decals, Yellow Wagon Wheels and Yellow leather interior are all easy to remove or "ADD" to a pain Jane Vette.
On the bottom of the rear storage compartment lid should be a decal with all the car's options. This is also easy to replace.
I don't think that the previous owner(s) would go through the trouble of painting it Radar Blue to clone a Pace Car and not put the decals on correctly...
One thing that is not easy to change just because, is the steering wheel.
Look for the Yellow Stitching. The yellow stitching is only on the Pace Cars... Steering wheel and shift ****...
the (3) 1998 pace cars that I've seen all had yellow stitching, one of the things that i look for first.
here's an article that i found regarding the yellow stitching...
1998 Indy Package
The Indy Pace Car Replica sold 1,163 Radar Blue units.
The 1998 Corvette included a Z4Z-Indy Pace Car Replica. It came with Radar Blue paint and a black top, yellow wheels, a special handling package and black-and-yellow seats. Also special to the replica was a black leather steering wheel and a leather transmission cover boot stitched in neon yellow that matched the shift ****. In all, 1,163 Indy Pace Car Replicas were sold.
