Recently I purchased a 2002 Z06. It has 24,000 miles on it.
I changed all the drive train fluids and have an issue with the transmission.
As I understand it, from reading posts on the forum, it is supposed to hold 4 quarts; however, their is usually about a 1/4 of a quart left in the 4th quart bottle. In my case there is almost 3/4 of the 4th quart left.
I leveled the car prior to draining the fluid and left it drain a while, so I assume it was completly empty.
When I added the fluid then left it sit for a while to let any bubbles disipate and when I again removed the plug to check the level the fluid dripped out. So I assume it is full.
Has anyone else had this problem??
Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance for your help.
Dave
I just changed the manual trans oil last night in my 2000 FRC. I have a lift so it was easy. Mine took about 3.6 quarts. The owners manual indicates 4.1 qts. after a rebuild. There is always some left, can't drain it all so 3.5 plus should be about right.
You said it was level when you drained it, it's possible there was still a 1/4 qt left in it. If you are full to the fill hole then you are good to go my friend. Next time you can tilt the car a little more so the drain hole is at the lowest point and see if you get a little more out of it.
