Default Just got an 01

I just picked up an QS Z06. I love it so far, it's stock other than a Vararam intake and some mild tuning. It has 110K miles on it, and I picked it up for 16,200 out the door from the dealership. First thing on the list is exhaust, what do you guys suggest? I want something louder than stock, but not crazy I live in a golf and country club so I dont want to **** off my neighbors. Ive had 7 fbodies, this is my first vette and I'm loving the car!

IMHO keep the Ti exhaust and spend the money on LT headers. Increased HP and nice sound without being obnoxious. Tony at HP Performance in Orange Park did my install and dyno tune. When he fired it up on the dyno people came running in to see what it was. It sounds wicked at WOT but barely noticeable at idld/cruise. He's known for Mustangs but a good honest guy who does solid work. Have fun with ur new toy!

You can't beat the OEM Ti cat-back exhaust for performance, sound and durability in my opinion. 01s have 4 cats (2 pre-cats and 2 main cats). If you want to reduce the back pressure and increase the sound a bit install an 02-04 mid pipe, it only has the 2 main cats.
Look in the parts for sale section, they come up periodically. I got mine for $150.00 shipped.

Cool, thanks! I have the guys at Rollins Automotive in gainesville do most of my stuff, they are cheap and do good work. I guess I will start looking for some headers and an 02-04 pipe! I'm really excited to finally have my dream car, C5 is my favorite body style. Anything I need to worry about checking right away maintenance wise? It's a one owner car, the salesman's personal car in fact. He showed me over 2000$ in receipts for rebuilding the top end of the motor so I'm not worried about the miles at all, and it has a brand new clutch so I dont have to worry about that.

If you are going to instal headers you don't need 02-04 pipes. Long tube headers comes with an X pipe that will connect to your cat back.

What's the deal with lowering these cars? How easy is it to do?

The clutch fluid would have been changed when the clutch was installed, but keep an eye on it and recomend you replace the fluid in the reservoir regularly, especially if the previous owner didn't install a remote bleeder when the new clutch went in. Anytime the fluid is any darker than it came out of the bottle I replace it with fresh.

Also, if your receipts don't show a recent brake fluid change I'd definitely recommend a flush.

Yeah it needs new brake fluid for sure, I just checked it. It's black. The clutch fluid is pretty clear though. I just had the oil changed today and I'm going to flush the coolant tomorrow. Braking from high speed there's a little vibration; Im hoping the rotors are ok

Super easy... but if you want to go really low, youll have to cut off the rubber bushings.

Probably not a good idea if you have a steep driveway or speed bumps if your driving common routes home in your area.

Yeah, I don't have many low areas near me and it's a second car. I have a 1998 z28 for a when I have to go places with no clearance so I definitely want to

This will give you an idea of what TIs sound like with headers, x-pipe and hi-flow cats. My Z06 has a few mods.

Sounds glorious. My Z28 has a few mods, 383 stroker, big cam, ETC ETC. That's why I'm not going too crazy with the Vette. I basically have the Z28 to drag race and the Vette to drive Daily.

I used to hate QSM, I had an 04 GTO that was QSM but it has grown on me a lot since I bought the vette. I love it on the Vette, hated it on the GTO.

I've decided Im going to buy the Borla Stingers for sale on here for 450 and leave it alone after that for a while.
