The most popular version glues or screws to the bulkhead behind the seats. Because they are in front of the tonneau cover they don't interfere with the black deck protector that's a part of the top.
I believe the OP is referring to the other type which just sticks on top of the tonneau cover and resembles a fat piece of elbow macaroni. I can see where this type would interfere with the deck protector, causing it to bunch up and limit rearward vision.
The first version is the style you want to go with, if it isn't already too late.
Regardless of what the popular opinion on seat back hoops is, the OP deserved an answer to his question. Because you don't have an answer doesn't mean an opinion will do in its place.
Yep,

I think the OP was referring to these type of stick-on hoops (C6/C5)...

If so, the window glass protector will sort of bunch up over those and will not lay flat.

I have chrome seat hoops installed and I bolted them on, in addition to the epoxy. Yes, they are cosmetic, but so is Carbon Fiber trim, vent screens, etc. I like the way they look and I have received many compliments over the years. I also like some of the custom leather options as well...

BTW - Welcome to Corvette Forum! This place is full of great information and many strong opinions!

Run a search on "Rear Wings" or "BSM" or "Z06 Badges" and you will be entertained for hours...

I haven't posted in this thread - although I was tempted. It's the OP's car and I've seen MUCH worse done on the forum than decorative hoops behind glued or bolted to the bulkhead but after these pics I could no longer resist.

Anyone who sticks these on their car should be sent immediately to rehab because they definitely have a substance abuse problem.

Another WINNER! Thanks for the link. I know two guys with C5 convertibles that have been looking for these so they can do HPDE.

See OP... why get fake roll bars when you can get the "real deal"?

Think of all the 'war stories' you can tell people about when you attacked the Nürburgring in Germany!

Why don't you guys have some real fun and go badger someone on a ricer forum. You should at least show some respect for a fellow Corvette owner doing it his way, even if its not something you would do or agree with.

You wouldn't find any mods on my car that were not functional! Mods such as thin spokes or custom wheels are for looks but they are also actual wheels that actually do work unlike "fake" roll bars!If you or anyone else want's to "rice" their Vette thats up to you! Thats what made companys like Western Auto and J.C. Whitney profitable.
Say, those fake Z-06 side vents and emblems would look sharp on your car! Get yourself a roll of "velcro" and let the mods begin!!

The OP asked a reasonable question and got unreasonably treated.

Everyone enjoys their Corvette in their own way. Might not be my taste, or yours, but the OP was a fellow Corvette owner. Poking a little fun is fair game, but a couple of posts seemed kinda beyond the pale.

Hell, I thought about getting these chrome {real} hoops for my black coupe. Believe it or not, I seen them in a black coupe and they look sharp in there.

and i don't know what you are speaking of with the "cloth" problem. i have had seat hoops installed on my 04 convertible for a little over a year and have never had any problems with the cloth protector. i'm guessing that perhaps you have the hoops installed incorrectly and they are leaning way to far backwards. mine have minimal slant and there is plenty of room for the protector cloth to lay properly.

there is no call for treating a fellow forum member as poorly as this when all he did was ask a question regarding a problem he was having. everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding functionality, etc, but in the end each car and it's owner's preferences are what count to that owner. i guaranty that on each of the cars of the folks complaining about functionality, there are mods that are purely cosmetic no matter how much they try to explain them away. let's not lose site of one of the basic principles of the forum and that is the exchange of information and ideas to help one another.

I haven't seen them wrapped in leather before kind of like the different look. As for the deck mounted bars they are not for me. One of the things i like about my bars is they fill the void behind the seats.

No one is picking on the OP. The reality is most members find these stick on monstrosities hideous and they voiced their opinions. If this guy in red C5 would ask about polishing chrome emblems you think he would get different response?
And yes these are fake hoops.
