Geeeze guys, I'm really surprised at some of the comments here.
Some of you act like the bars usually known as "seat hoops" are new.
This topic has been discussed many times on the forum here, and many members including me have them.
I don't recall anyone slamming another member for installing them. Yeah, regardless of how they're installed they are for looks only, no one has ever denied that. Whether they are bolted down, or epoxyed, they will not serve as a true roll bar.
To all of you smart *** folks out there, go find a Kia forum for your comments, cause they don't deserve to be on a quality site. So, in closing, thanks again to all of you who actually deserve a Corvette and are helpful to folks like me who are only trying to get some help.[/QUOTE]
If anyone needs to be on a Kia forum it would be someone who wants a "fake" roll bar! Say, One of those "paint can exhausts" would look mighty sharp too!
Tough crowd. Luckily we are protected by our right to our opinions. With that said, op, can I see a pic of the finished product? Buddy of mine was looking into it for his vert. Not my thing, but lets see whatcha got.
There are two types of fake "roll hoops", aka seat back hoops. Neither should be mistaken for roll bars as they provide no protection, as previously mentioned.
The most popular version glues or screws to the bulkhead behind the seats. Because they are in front of the tonneau cover they don't interfere with the black deck protector that's a part of the top.
I believe the OP is referring to the other type which just sticks on top of the tonneau cover and resembles a fat piece of elbow macaroni. I can see where this type would interfere with the deck protector, causing it to bunch up and limit rearward vision.
The first version is the style you want to go with, if it isn't already too late.
Regardless of what the popular opinion on seat back hoops is, the OP deserved an answer to his question. Because you don't have an answer doesn't mean an opinion will do in its place.

I think they look nice, and it appears the OP knows they offer no protection.
The hump-style also look good.
Got to be ready for the barrage, though, when it comes to image-only related parts!
Most people don't find favor with them, but that's why it's a great hobby-we do what WE like to OUR cars.

Mine were a bit higher when they were sold to me and the previous owner assured me they fit under the top, well they didnt
So I had to lower them but your head is below them still and with the 5 point I felt better lol
I'd bet that some of the people that have posted negative comments about the OP's question have one or more of the following mods:
Brake caliper covers
Tail light covers/louvers
Chrome/painted intake cover
Misc chrome/painted engine compartment covers
Fake carbon fiber material covering interior pieces or other body pieces
Any other appearance only items....
They are all appearance only items that do nothing for performance. He has a convertible so he probably isnt interested in racing it but likes the look of the hoops. If he likes the look of it and knows they arent real who cares if its functional?
These hoops are only a safety item if you are racing the car. If you are not into racing, does having these make the car less safe than any other convertible on the road without them??? I didn't think so

I'm going to be watching for any pictures you post of your ride. If I see one mod that is for looks only...................

Uh oh! I do have chrome exhaust tips and stock black door sill protectors because those two things did not come on a 97. I guess I am a hypocrite. I may as well get those stick on chrome portals for the front fenders.
