Head light issue
Hey guys, I need your expertise with an issue. Recently, my right head light assembly would stop from coming up all the way. Before, I could switch the lights on and off a couple of times, and it would work fine. But last night, it wouldn't cooperate.
I replaced the plastic gears with brass/bronze gears last year, so I don't think that's the problem. And I could lift the light the rest of the way, but it wouldn't stay all the way up.
Any ideas, or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Does the headlight not raise up all the way at all, or does it raise up then fall back into half position?
My guess would be to check the pivots on the lifting arm first both at the motor and at the headlight subframe.

It's just not coming all the way up,and it might lack an inch or so from the full height.
Before, I could turn off the headlights and let them close, and switch them on and off a few times, and it then it would raise all the way.
I'm thinking I'm hitting a dead spot in the motor or something.

It hasn't been all that long ago, I replaced the stock plastic gears with the brass ones.
And the problem seems to be sporadic. The past couple of times they've come all the way up the first time I switch on the lights.

Its possible to have a dead spot in the motor of course. I'm thinking that the controller is stopping the motor thinking it reached the top of the travel before it gets there due to, too much load on the motor, since there is no limit switch. It is also possible to put the motor gear housing back together with the spacers in the wrong positions. If you did this, the blade thingys whatever they are called, can ride up over the rubber bumper stops and jam things, causing the controller to stop the motor. The only way you'll know is to take it apart again.

Did you just "glue" the cover on when replacing the gear; or 1) does your gear box has screws or 2) did you use a brace with screws?
