I washed the car today (yeah, it was cold, but it needed it). After I got done, I got in to move it back into the garage when I noticed that the radio stations were reset. And then I noticed that the mirrors were off, and the climate control unit was reset.
What happened? Did I get water into something that caused a short?
The thing that confuses me is that I've disconnected the battery before when replacing an EBCM and even then it didn't reset the radio..but this wash did.
Hey Wes! Guess you are back home now, that's great! Yes you probably got something wet (obvious). No ideas as to what exactly. We'll have to get together sometime. I'm only an hour away and will be in Columbia sometime in feb/mar.
Spray a little wd-40 onto the fuses in the engine bay and it will push any remaining water out of the area. Dont soak it but a light spray. Nothing is damages I dont think, but just a safety measure. Could just be a loose connection in a different location.
Did you check the floorboard in the passenger side ? If it is damp you may want to check the duckbill drains for debris and clean them out. Moisture is never good in this area! If it is damp perhaps you have a leak on the window seal? Also if you sprayed the engine area you might want to check the grounds on the frame. Did you check the battery terminals? 11 foot/lbs only.

How could of water gotten into the fuse box with that cover on, as well as by that weatherstripping? I'll do it anyways, but just wondering.

I didn't, but good idea. Where are these "duckbill drains?" Never heard of 'em.
Didn't spray the engine area. Battery terminals were tightened a few days ago when I was messing with the EBCM.
Noticed one more oddity since that car wash..today, randomly, when I went to get in the car, the alarm went off. The doors had been unlocked and I didn't press anything on the FOB..it was in my garage.

There is a fuse panel behind the passenger footwell. If the duckbill drains are clogged the water coming off the windshield will back up and soak the floorboard. Also, water can enter through the side glass and wind up on the floor board as well. If you do a search there are tons of pictures by Bill Curlee that explain where they are and how to purge them. Your symptoms are common with this type of drainage issue. You washed the car so I just thought water might be your issue. Good Luck!
Hey birdman passive lock may have gotten set some how to cause the auto lock issues, never heard of duck bill but I think he's referring to "udders" do a search on those...they are in the leaky "stickys"
Losing memory presets is the first sign that the battery voltage is low.
Check your battery state. Dont use the DIC voltage as that shows the alternator output. Use a digital meter across the terminals. A discharged battery will show 11.6v all the way up to a fully charged battery at 12.6v.
If you have a lead acid battery it should recharge. Put it on a charger overnight and check again.
The other thing to check is that theres no damage to the wiring in the door hinges, although the symptoms there are normally more dramatic. Pull the rubber gaiter and check for corrosion on the connectors or chafed wiring. If you check the codes you might find a bunch of U codes if thats the issue.

I didn't think that the '01 Z06 had passive lock..? Thought that's what I read anyways. Plus, I tried locking the keys in before and shaking the car and nothing happened. Plus, the car WASN'T locked when it went off on me..I simply opened the door as I normally do in the garage and off it went.
Yeah, I already researched and read the sticky on the udders and water drains..that's probably what it is, the one from the cowl. I'll check the doors as well.

I'd say its just a weak battery.
Battery read 12.29.
Haven't checked the wiring yet, but I have no codes other than a 1214 for the EBCM.

All that is true. That only works for 99 and back with passive lock feature.
I'm one who would suggest cleaning your grounds, there is a main one on the drivers side on the frame and just to be careful I'd check to see if the battery doesn't have a crack or leaking, cause right below the battery tray is the main wiring harness and the PTCM, which I pray isn't you problem. Clean the battery terminals & the three cowl drains. Good luck.
Stupid question, but could you have pushed the 2nd memory preset on the door by mistake? I find it odd that the three things you mention can be controlled by that. Have done that before and it moved to the previous owners setpoints (I only use the first)...just a thought...good luck.
