Do something simmilar as to what I did prior to doing my headers, x pipe & vararam.

Go buy yourself a very good set of 4 jack stands.
I went to Sears and bought 4 Craftsnan Professional 6 Ton-12000 lb,
rachet locking jackstands. Height goes from 15-3/8" to 24-5/16"

I know this is over kill in regards to the weight capacity, but I
figured I could also use the stands on my 1 ton Diesel van & any other type vehicle that I may own in the future.
Besides these were able to get to the height that I needed to get my LG long tube pro's in.
Good luck & work safely.
Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I do have good ratcheting stands, they are just too short!

Did mine on jackstands by myself. Took a day with a few trips to the hardware store. Would definitely recommend an extra set of hands, would have made things much easier. I had to get the car about 2' off the ground, Sears high lift jackstands were the cheapest I could find at about $25 a pair.

I've delt with these guys before [rear gears/tune] and they do quality work.
I guess thats about right inline for what a shop would charge, personally I didnt think it was that difficult just time consuming. If you dont want to mess with it then I guess it would be worthwhile having someone else do the install. Personally I wouldnt spend more that 150 or so on the install, which is also all I would charge someone if I were to do it but then again I dont have to worry about overhead.

I'm not a mechanic but, reasonably good with a wrench, took me a week-end on jack stands, while on the stands, I also changed out the ecbm from a mail order tune (not worth the money), changed the plugs and wires, did a coolant change and thermostate replacement ran the wires for my hids and installed the ACA projectors, oil change, and did the conversion to C6Z06 shocks and C6Z51 brakes and and sway bars. The only help I could muster was the wife for 20 minutes to help lower the drivers side header into place which, cost me a full manicure and pedicure at the salon which, was only double the labor rate of a garage, all in all a sucessful weekend.
