Default heated seats install options

have a 2003 anniv - vert, bought heated seat kits with 2-rocker switches. searched the forum for placement of switches. i'm not to keen on putting in ashtray, i have active handling so i think thats not an option, the other place i saw was in the side of console.
has anyone put them in any other location or i'm open to any ideas or suggestions.
thanks -have a good day

When mine was done, this is what the board was doing allot of. You can see them next to the traction control switch. My kit came with the two switches. Looks like OEM.

Are you talking about the magnetic shock ride selection? I'm not familiar with where the controls are for that, but if you are just talking about the "Active Handling" Traction Control it is no problem.

I just finished my heater install and there is PLENTY OF ROOM for the two switches. You have to off set the centers of the switch just a tad from from the T/C switch, and do a small cut on the corner of the circuit board.

You may consider putting them somewere so you or a passenger don't push them to the on position by accident and they are left on overnight. Or wired someplace so that they can only come on when the ignition is on.

the magnetic ride controll switch is next to the the active handling switch. i havent seen on the forum anyone with both switches put the seat switches there. They look and seem to be the best place to put them if you dont have the ride controll.

I've seen them installed in the ash tray area and also like those on TomBoy's car. Looked pretty good there.

I'm looking to do the same thing and the only thing I could see that might work was the ash tray but agree with you on the factory look and we won't get that with them in there. I'll definitely be watching this thread for better ideas

Question, wonder if anyone has installed the heater control switches in the seat adjustment control panel. I was looking and there seems to be enough room only thing is that some of the wiring would be buried in the seat bottom foam area. That would make the most sense location wise. Anyone?

I've had my heated seats for years and like you, I have AH so that wasn't an option.

For those unfamiliar with the problem, this is the front of an AH/ride control panel:

This is the back of a modified panel and I wasn't brave enough to cut a section away

I went with the ashtray mount and eventually built a small panel to take them. I tried to be too clever and use a piece of matching two tone leather. As you can see I didn't quite get the line straight so I'd go straight black if I did it again. Luckily it doesn't show from sitting height.

I have a rear fog light and I mounted the switch on the knee panel to the left of the steering wheel. trouble is, the passenger wouldn't be able to get access to his or her switch over there

Bill Curlee fitted a switch to the left of the glove box on the panel down there which might work for the passenger.

I have seen pics of switches down on the side of the seat and it would be easy enough to fit while the seat was out of the car. The disadvantage would be that you wouldn't be able to see which setting you had selected (hi or low) and you'd have to do it by feel.

I'd imagine you could also find a spot on each side of the side of the console with enough clearance behind. The rocker switches are quite slim.

I mounted mine above the active handling switch panel in the center console below and to the right of the shifter. Easy access for both driver & passenger.

toying with the idea of putting them in the ash tray and then covering with leather. I making different templates to see how they look in the car. so far the best looking to my eye is putting the switches directly in the ash tray and covering with either leather the color of the seats or black leather. i'm thinking im just covering the ash tray and not over to the lighter. keep ideas comming.
thanks

I have this option in another vehicle and to be honest it is goofy. When you put it on it takes about a minute to feel it on your cheeks, then all of a sudden you want to turn it off as soon as possible because your asscrack starts to sweat and burn. Meanwhile the sides of your butt and legs are still cold as hell, so you end up with this huge variation in temperature on your body. Once you have it off it continues to be annoying until it cools down to a normal temp. By then the engine is hot and you get plenty of warm air out of the vents. I wouldn't waste my time doing it on the vette.

I've got it in my work truck and love it. No problem with over heating keeps a constant temp plus it has two settings. Wife likes it so much we end up taking my truck most places. So in theory if I put it in the vert she might drive in it a bit more
