Default Aero question

At our monthly club meeting, one of the members said that our c5's get light in the rear and will lift above 150 mph. I have had ours to 162 and it was rock solid at that speed. Anyone else have aero issues above 150 mph? I plan on taking our car to the Mojave Mile, and expect around 180 mph there. Getting airborne is not fun, unless you do it in a Mooney...lol...

The real problem is in front, you have to let a good amount of air escape from the engine bay or the front will begin to hunt back & forth @ around 130/140, there is enough pressure under there to bow the hood up 1/2 inch at the center. Extractor hood, rear spoiler you will be ok. DONT FORGET 5 POINT HARNESS & new speed rated tires! Thats a blast to do except waiting in line for your run. Good luck be safe & pay attention to the officials!

Never had mine that fast - but I would agree it most likely will be the front end that has lift problems.

Never heard that before and I've never hit those speeds in a C5. Sounds like some great "real world" advice from Big Duk.

I'd check that no one removed the aerodynamic end pieces on the air deflector under the nose. That would lose downforce at the top end as it destroys the airflow over the undertray.

Our cars do get light in the front at speed. I put a VIS extractor hood on my vert and there is a good bit of difference at triple digit speeds.

I don't plan on replacing my hood for one event, so I will just be aware that the front can get light. As I said above, I went 162 mph and did not feel any lightness at all. It felt rock solid at that speed. Maybe above 170 mph might be another story. If I feel the front starting to lift, I will just back out of it.
No hero here...

Another beautiful day here in the Northwest, great cruising weather.
My car might be altered because it is very stable at 150 mph, and 162 mph. I am going to measure the height from the ground to my front spoiler and see if it is the stock height. What is the stock height for our C5's from the ground to the bottom of the front spoiler?
