On my MGW shifter I don't have any rattles and it works well. The shift pattern is short and precise. I like it.

It took some getting used to for me. The centering spring is pretty stiff, so it takes a pull to get it over to 1st.

I have the MGW gripper shift ****. It is basically just a round ball, but I like the feel of it. (Link below)

I think the reasoning of your original post is sound!! You will enjoy the benefits of the shifter every time you grab another gear!! I saw in your later response that is your choice,,the only thing I can add is,,,,ENJOY!!!

Do you have the newest design & if so, what is the model number?
Their online site recommends using a (standard C/6 shifter box) (not a C/6, Z 06 shifter box) or a C/5 shifter box.
Did you use their sugestion?
I'm just trying to do some research before plunking down $250 for a shifter.
Thanks in advance.
rexde1, looks to have a coupe so he should not have to replace it. the z06 did not have rubber isolators on the shifter box untill 08 which they say causes the bad vibration. I am ordering my mgw this week along with a new c6 shifter(you have to buy the whole shifter mech. to get a new box) gm partswarehouse for about $140.00

Here you go...
MGW recommends getting a C/6 shifter & box, part#25823572
Remove the C/5 shifter & box.
Remove the new c/6 shifter from the shifter box.
Install the C/6 box & lastly, the new MGW shifter to the new box.
As per MGW's install instructions.

For those contemplating this shifter, I suggest going to their website.
They have vidio instructions & the particulars, in regards to it's install

Correct, but on coupes and conv. only if the rubber isolators are worn out and if the seals are bad around the shafts its recommended per the install video , if a z06 there are no rubber isolators so yes it is RECOMMENDED but not mandatory
