No major mods planned for next year but I do want to do something. Currently just have exhaust (axle back only). Keeping it under reasonable budget, I'm debating between a quality CAI (Honker, Halltech) or an MGW short throw shifter.
My thought is, I probably won't notice the minimal gains from the air intake, but I WILL notice the nice tight shifting of the MGW every single time I row the gears.
If you had ~ $350 to spend - which route would you go?
I have the MGW short throw. It was easy to install. It makes horrible vibrating noises sometimes that I have almost gotten used to. I keep my hand on it to quiet it up if I have a passenger. Going to 5th you have to be careful or it will try to go into reverse and make a terrible grindingg noise. 1st through 4th is awesome which is why I keep it in there. I have a whit Hurst ball on it because I had it and it looks good.

Rexde1,
Please discuss more.
Do you have the newest design & if so, what is the model number?
Their online site recommends using a (standard C/6 shifter box) (not a C/6, Z 06 shifter box) or a C/5 shifter box.
Did you use their sugestion?
I'm just trying to do some research before plunking down $250 for a shifter.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about a shifter box. It was supposed to be the latest one a few months ago. I dont know the numbers. It is possible I cut away too much of the rubber boot away, I followed the directions about that and cut the center out.

I have the MGW shifter as well and have not had any issues with it. I had a Hurst before that would vibrate some but the MGW has never done that. It's the best shifter I've owned and I love the precise positive throws.
If you miss fifth often and are grinding gears that means your reverse lockout solenoid is screwed up. You should not be able to shift into reverse while traveling forward... Check the wiring harness to the transmission and, if that looks good, your solenoid might be stuck. There's a DIY on this forum to service it.

Your reverse lockout is the culprit, should be a pretty easy fix.
And you have another vote for the shifter.
