NOPE. Owner likes it, then it's fine.

That looks great did you have to use the converter to get the button to work?

I was thinking about the situation with the C5 A4 shifter height with something aftermarket so I thought I'd try something a little different. I don't have access to any sort of polymer so a quick trip to Joann Fabric got me a 2.5" solid wood ball (actually a **** in craft store lingo) which should do the trick, at least for prototyping.

Like I said, I'm just thinking it through right now but I think I'm getting there.

While it seems to work great to me, not everyone is convinced that it isn't a little too large (but it seems to be a good height to make a great handrest).

Not sure I'd like pushing down on the **** to shift it, seems like it would be awkward. But I do have a couple Hurst T-Handles laying around, may take one to my friends machine shop and take one out to 9/16 - 18. I might like that, especially with the built in line lock button.

Mr Bill, that's a great looking console!! What radio/nav unit is that? Did that screen saver come with it?

Thanks, The unit is a Pioneer AVIC X920BT bought from Dennis at Double D Mods, A forum vendor on here, He also made the bezel and it came out fantastic...
Once you get use to pushing down on the **** it is quite nice.
I installed the load up screen, You can install any jpg as you like.

Some of my earlier pictures had a weird perspective (which in some cases made the shift **** look like basketball ) so here is a final shot (after three coats of paint) with a reasonable perspective of everything.

Someone posted pictures showing that he made a ratchet shifter fit a C5 so it should be in the archives.

I've finally completed my A4 shift **** this weekend and it turned out pretty well I think.

All told, i did five coats of gloss black, three coats clearcoat, and finally three coats of polyurethene (with some sanding).

The finish is nearly mirror-like

It isn't a particularly difficult project and if you have any sort of artistic ability, I'm sure you could come up with something more sophisicated designwise using the basic fabrication proceedure.

I actually had four "blanks" to start with.

I was trying some different application methods so I had a couple that were mid-process when I took the picture.
