Default Is STW dead or dying?

maybe it's just me......... I still (over 35 years of Vette ownership) wave to other Vettes on the road but it seems most of the return waves are only from Generation C4 or older. A few C5's/C6's.. but not much. Hate to see this. and the days of being on the side of the road with hood up and the next vette coming along will always stop may be gone too. I really hope it's just me seeing this but...........

When I first bought mine in 09 I thought it was dead since the I what 2 for 7 the first week. Since then I am about 80% after probably 50 encounters. I try my best to keep it alive. :

I have noticed over the past couple of years that I only get a return wave about 50% of the time. I wave at all Vette owners regardless of what generation car they are driving....

I think its just a new generation of owners coming along and they dont know about the wave. You can tell by the look on their face. They have the "why are you waving at me, im going to sit still" look

I always wave! I'm young but I find it a friendly gesture.

I always wave - any generation, and probably get the wave back 90% of the time. Sometimes people just have eyes on the road and aren't looking around. It may be a regional thing, too. Meaning, there are a lot of Corvettes in my area so maybe that's why the wave is still alive here.

If ya ever pass me you'll get a wave

Unfortunately, I don't pass many vettes during my daily routine, but when I do (usually C5/C6), I guess its about a 50/50 chance of a return wave.

And Thankfully, I don't ever see a vette on the side of the road with its hood up.

However, if I see one in a parking lot I'm checking it out and sometimes meet the owner and bs a bit.....oddly (or not) this happens most at Home Depot

SAD but true. The true car nut will wave. I have had Porsche , and Viper owners wave and I wave back. Mainly the C6 do not return the wave, unless you use 1 finger

I wave at every Vette I see. I don't do it to get a return wave, I do it to acknowledge their car and my appreciation for it. I think after a few times of another Vette owner waving at them, even the thickest will figure out that there's a kinship there.

but substitute OLD. I was 1 for 2 yesterday, but realistically the first one was high up on a ramp and could never have seen me...especially at 65 mph.

Back in the days when I had my '72, probably received a wave back 95% of the time. Now, more like 40%, rarely from C6 owners. Not to sound sexist, but I see a lot more women driving vettes today and so far I've only had 1 wave received and/or returned from a women driver. Maybe it's me. The "wave" is just another "cool" factor of being a vette owner. My wife always rolls her eyes when I wave to another vette, and chuckles when they don't wave back. That's why I don't let her drive my car...she doesn't get it.

I started doing the wave when I was riding my motorcycle alot and not that I am in my C5 I do it is often as I can. Around here I get about 80% or more but with so many things to do in a car now a days such as texting, shifting, talking on cell phones, ect... its hard to get noticed.

Its always the new owners that don't know or don't care.

In Seattle, it was less than 50/50. In the rural Southeastern US, a little closer to half.

I've been in upstate SC for 3 months now and I'm 100% with at least 2 dozen waves, c5's and c6's and one lone c2.

It ain't dead. :cya

You can pretty much tell from a distance if you will get a wave. If the car is stock, expect a Corvette enthusiast.......and a wave.

If you see a corny bulge in the hood, weird lights, stripes and lowered. Forget it. These owners are into themselves, and you'll never get a wave. This includes tints, where you can't tell if the driver is waving or not.

I try to wave to nearly all the vettes I see and probably get a bout a 50/50 response...one time when on the interstate to Atlanta a couple c5s were in the opposing lane one behind the other and the lead driver opened his illuminated headlights, it was cool but I wasn't able to return that "wave" but would have if it hadn't happened so fast...
